I am one of those types who keep desk practical and people can see its used.
I am just a shallow stereotype, so you should take into consideration that my opinion has no great value to you.

Look at the screenshot I posted. In a couple of weeks I'll have reinstalled all of my favourite programs and my dock will have approximately 50 icons on it. That's what I use. No folders, no menus. Move my mouse down, start a program.

I never understood the efficiency of having to go back to my desktop to open up programs. I usually have about 6 programs open at any given time. Going back to the desktop to start another just seems... redundant.
