Time to revive this thread again.

I've had this dagblabbing 80's song stuck in my head all day, and I can't for the life of me remember its name/group

I whipped up a little diddly of the melody.

As for lyrics, IIRC it's something like "Vacation all I ever wanted, vacation trying to get away" but nothing relevant comes up with my friend, Google.

It's a popular song, I'm convinced a lot of you know it.  Help?

That would be it.  I searched for the lyrics before going through all the trouble of posting here, but I must not have done so enough.

Thanks.

Hello! I just heard a song that I like... I want it, so, excuses for digging up this thread.

It sounds a lot like the tune of "Hello I love you" by "The Doors", but it' s not that song... It is faster, and the tune played by the organ in "The Doors" version is make now by an electric guitar...

The problem... I directly asked to the owner of the CD which is the song, and he told me that "I think it' s a song by the Kinks, something with "time" in the title". I downloaded all the songs of the discography of the kinks with that word in the title, and nothing... Maybe it' s not a song by The Kinks? I am quite sure it had the word "time" in the repetitive part of the lyrics.

Thanks!

So the owner of the CD wouldn't tell you the name of the cd? I mean, if he has it on one, it could reduce a lot of possibilities. Or is it one of those mp3 collection CDs?

Nacho

It' s a cd which only label was "música"  ;D And he does not remember more than what I told to you in this previous post :)

Alas, my friend, if I am digging up this old thread is because I don' t have access to the tune, atm...  :)

Link to the "Doors" version... Hope it helps... The part where Jimmo says "Hello I love you, baby tell me your name", those 10 notes, are virtually identycal... Except for the timing (In "my song" the beat is faster) and Jimmo' s voice is substituted by a guitar.

I mught meet the owner of the cd tomorrow, eventually, hope to guess the name and, of course, tell it to you, to avoid headaches.  :)

I'm not sure if anyone has posted this site before, but it can be useful for finding songs. Midomi let's you sing some of the lyrics or hum the melody into a microphone and tries to find a match. It works surprisingly well, so if anyone wishes to check it out make sure to go to http://www.midomi.com/ .

Sorry for digging up this thread, there probably was a more recent one with the same topic, but I found this first. SO.

This song is probably early nineties (or late 80s). The lyrics I remember went something like "Samsamadonna [Santa Madonna?], been waiting for tomorrow, without your momma" and then "wooooo...hooooo wooooo...hoooo".

Yeah, generic ninetiesish type music, but it is driving me crazy not being able to find out what it is. Google doesn't help, and I would've assumed I imagined it up, but someone else recognised the lines when I sang them recently (but didn't remember the song). Help?

Can you sing it and record it? Nothing comes to mind by just reading gibber. ;)

I have no mic, and I must sing.

Also, no. It isn't gibberish! That is what it sounded like!

Hey Barbar, your gibberish is perfect. I recognised the song ... but don´t know the title. Now the refrain sticking in my head and I´ll be sitting here spending the evening with my friend google.

Babs, it's probably Zucchero and Paul Young -Senza Una Donna that LFish, said, I can see where you got all the "lyrics" wrong. :D
