I was browsing Ebaums world when i saw a link for Magic.Ã, There was a magic trick that i decided to try out, and for some reason worked every time and kind of creeped me out, because it worked everytime.Ã, How the **** does this thing know what number i'm thinking of.Ã, Here's a link for people to check out.
I found this kind of strange because everytime i tried it, it was always correct. How the heck does it know?
There may be some pop-ups, which i'm sorry for.
http://www.ebaumsworld.com/mindprobe.html
let's choose the number 10, subract 1 from 10 you get 9, not let's pretend a friend chose 11, subtracted 2 from 11 and we get 9, not let's pretend another friend chose 12, subtract 3 from 12 and you get... 9
choose 20 and you get 18, choose 21 and you get 18 and so on and so forth, no look at the symbol for 9 and the symbol for 18
are they the same?
they even did it kinda wonky because if you start at 9 and move diagonally all the symbols are the same and that's the symbol it will choose
It's mathemagic!
I thought it might have something to do with math, but i really wanted to believe my computer had psychic powers.Ã, Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
shawnÃ, :)
The first time I tried it it did not work. I Did 95 and it the symbol
up for it was 4 then the changed... wierd. I still think the demons control it and I beat them, so they kill me! IF you do not hear from ME FOR a while while it took me a time to get to a place.
yes...all possible answers always have the same symbol, but this symbol changes every time so that you don't notice you are getting the same symbol each time.
There is a similar puzzle with planets that you are chased to. It was an interesting idea for a game puzzle, methinks, if modified.
terran i wouldn't really consider this a puzzle...maybe a puzzler[i/i] but not a puzzle...
what was this other puzzle you speak of though? (i like puzzles)
Well... it must be run by Microsoft because it didn't probe this Mozilla users mind...
Heh. I pulled this one on my friends when I was in my very first year of highschool (I think). I printed it out on paper and took it to school, which makes you look extra smart-and-psychic. Some of my friends got really confused, but one of my friends actually had a brain, and he just looked at me and said "You're an idiot. All the possible symbols are the same."
That kinda took the fun out of it a bit...
Freaky ... Or is it?
HA!
It's didn't work for me, so I'm a magician and I just killed those "demons" that 333 told about... ;)
When I first played with thing, I was quite freaked out. Then after a couple of times, I realized that all of the numbers I had chosen were multiples of three.
I'll show this to my friends; they'll probably be up all night wondering how a computer probed their minds.
I did this a while back; I actually noticed the pattern with the symbols before the pattern with the numbers, which I think makes me special.
It always feels good to make a valuable contribution to a topic.
How long does it take you to solve this one?
http://www.caveofmagic.com/pickcrd2.htm
I was SO amazed when I clicked that, but after clicking back & forth a couple of times, I get it. Very clever.
...Gee...have you noticed that the symbols change? 81,72,63,54,45 etc.
NOW THIS IS FREAKY---> http://www.ebaumsworld.com/choosenumber.html
It worked on me! I can't explain it.
That one's all about probability. I saw something ages ago that said a high percentage of people will pick 7 when asked to pick a number between 1 & 10. I don't know WHY exactly, it just always happens. The sums have nothing to do with it.
Same with the other two. For some reason, carrot, red & hammer are all common answers, they must have researched it.
That card one's really annoying me... How does it work?!?
*grr*
Just pay close attention.
As for the choose-a-number trick, veryweirdguy is right, (and very wierd).
The mental arithmetic prevents you occupies your mind and effectively clears it, which makes you more likely to make the obvious choice without realising it.
In memory tests psychologicts use similar techniques, like reverse times tables, to prevent subjects from trying to remember things.
Some of those were nice, others were too obvious. Like the pick-a-card thing..."the card you selected is now removed!"...yeah, and so are all the other cards...
Also, the colour-tool-vegetable didn't work for me, so I wasn't too impressed. The spinning hypnosis thing was more impressive. I really saw the skin on my hand move around.
And it's much cheaper than drugs.
Optical illusions are FAR more better than drugs.... or atleast cheaper :-\
Isn't that exactly what Andail just said?
Isn't that exactly what Andail just said?
Isn't that exactly what Ben just said? ;)

This worked well on me...
And I couldn't get even one question right on thes one... Dang!
http://www.weaselcircus.com/funpages/iq-test.swf

I didnt know a pineapple was a vegetable...
You've never played aninmal vegetable mineral before? It means vegetable as in any kind of plant, rather than the narrow meaning of vegetable...
Anyway, we've done this before:
http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?topic=5430.0
It knew it was a computer, a magazine. But only when I continued ot knew it was curtains that was my third one
Animal Vegetable Mineral?
QuoteAnyway, we've done this before
So you did...
Looks like i forgot to write that 'sorry if this has been posted before' crap.
After 27 questions..
QuoteYou were thinking of an electric guitar.
Is it pleasurable? You said Irrelevant, I say Yes.
Can you put something into it? You said Yes, I say No.
Does it have a hole in it? You said No, I say Yes.
Is it brown? You said Yes, I say No.
My guitar doesn't really pleasure me..
I can put a cord into it..
There is only one hole, I guess I didn't think of the jack..
It is brown, made of wood and sunburst finish..
But I guess it did get it, eventually.
Just a warning about Ebaum's site:
I was browsing that site yesterday, and while I was there I think I got a worm on my computer that changed my home page and took several hours to fix.
I don't like Ebaum.
Weird, I visit Ebaum's world pretty much but never encountered anything like that...
That wasn't eBaum's site. It's never done anything to me like that before. Then again, I have Norton Antivirus. Like EVERYONE should have (or some equivalent program).
I have Norton Antivirus too.. Which is why I don't understand why that happened. Maybe it's not updating like it's supposed to.
Okay, i checked another site with so called magic mind reading card tricks, and this one i cannot figure out. How does the computer know what card i'm thinking of. I tried this about 5 times, and it was right every time.
Please somebody, help me solve the puzzle of the computer that can read my mind.
here is the link

solution;
Spoiler
Dark, just try to memorize one or more of the other cards. The trick is that they exchange all cards, including the one you "picked".
Wrong, Andail!
Spoiler
The answer is sorcery.

Re-read my previous post, das-joe, and I think you'll be horribly mistaken!
DG i like your answer and i'll just believe that even though there is a logical answer to the puzzle.

NOW THIS IS FREAKY---> http://www.ebaumsworld.com/choosenumber.html
It worked on me! I can't explain it.
I have no idea how this one was supposed to work cause it didn't on me, actually I did guess 7 for the first
Spoiler
2. for some strange reason I quickly thought of pair, but that is a fruit anyway, so I thought potato
3.I thought blue wrench, I have no idea why but I have no idea why red hammer is supposed to work??????????
I said 11 (wrong), carrot (right), and blue hammer (half-right). That website isn't as magical as the card one. I think a certain webmaster needs to properly consult his necronomicon before dabbling in the black arts again.
According to the twenty Questions thing, A pair of trousers is similair to water, fabric and EVERYTHING!
also it can't be multicoloured and it is made of crystals?!
Weird, I'm going to play with it some more.
OMG! How did it know I thought of the hourglass? EDIT:Heh, that thing is not foolproof.
It's obviously not foolproof, but impressive none the less, Does it count as AI? It appears to adapt to the answers given by people, So it gets better and better.
Actually, the computer got it right on the first try but later it gets stupider and stupider.
yeah, well it depends on the stupidity or intelligence of the particpants, so we could screw it up by all going on and claiming you can't lift cheese and that all cheese weighs more than a duck.
