No seriously, I don't know what it is but for the past few months I have had strange things happen to me in my room, and only when I am in my room. I'll go to sleep, but while in my dream state I will open my eyes (a friend of mine was also in the room when one of these things happened) I can see everything quite clearly, so I know it is not a dream, I cannot move I feel trapped. But I can start to see things while in this state that actually effect the room (like I seen things coming through the walls that scared the livin' crap out of me)
Do any of you know what this could be?
Sounds kinda like night-terrors to me... But you're a bit old for that.
Yeah no, it's just weird except Im into the supernatural stuff, no but things get affected in the real world around it, so it's like awesome and strange.
I dunno man, you might want to look into this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_terror sounds weird what you are going through.

I've actually heard of this. I saw some documentary on it a long time ago. Apparently it's not harmful to you (except that it's pretty scary). I don't know much about it, but I'd suggest seeing a doctor (or maybe a hypnotherapist, heh). Anyway, the documentary I watched was a long time ago, but I vaguely remember the name as "sleep paralysis", as well as hypnagogia.

Interesting stuff.
like woah that is like so awesome. Now I guess you could say that is what I am experiencing, however most of the symptoms there I do not experience, and the reason it is hard for me to believe that it isn't real is that things can actually be affected.
I am also someone that has deja vu daily, like 2-3 times a day, and I seem to get people things that they claim that they didn't ask for but they wanted at that time. I experience alot of weird things so I am not sure when ever I encounter something new.
Are you David Blaine!?!?
haha no Im not lol. Im sure that was intented to be like a joke but yeah I tend to experience alot. I am also a lucid dreamer and I also have out of body experiences. All these things metioned including the sleep paralysis thing I can control or I know how to activate them at will.
I've had this twice so far. I wish it happened more often, it's totally awesome :D
I'm an insomniac and weird things do happen. I used to sleep walk (and talk) regularly- but as I got older these problems have all but faded away. Relax- do yoga or some form of meditation before going to sleep.
And - search the CoasttoCoastam.com site!
Whatever you do- Don't take AMBIEN!
Sounds to me like your brain is hyper-developed. I wish I could experience half the stuff you mentioned.
I grew up having night terrors, and later something similar to what you seem to be experiencing. How old are you? Maybe you don't want to say, but as LGM mentions, younger people tend to have all out night terrors...and from what you describe, that doesn't sound like one. Night terrors, at least in my experience, are extremely frightening, and you don't really remember much once its over. You also, or at least I, would walk around, run, hit things/people. All kinds of stuff.
Later, when i was in high school, I'd sometimes wake up from a nap feeling extremely apprehensive...and felt like I couldn't move. It would last for only a few minutes, but it wasn't fun. I've had people (and my former neurologist) decribe them as auras...sort of the experience and symptoms you get before having a seizure:
http://www.webmd.com/hw/health_guide_atoz/tm6354.asp
That description actually sounds closer to what you're having. I'm no doctor, but maybe you have some type of seizure disorder or epilepsy. Epilepsy comes in all kinds of ways, you don't have to have grand mal seizures to have it.
If you can, I'd think about going to see a neurologist.
Hmm, I think I get night terror very rarely, though its not like that. I wake and things are wierd in my room, nothing unusual like you said, no hallucenations or stuff, just an immense sense of helplessness and difficulty getting back to sleep. I usually stay awake and read for a bit. But its very horrible. Unlike the description on Wikipedia, I don't get scared by voices from other rooms during this, I feel comforted, and it goes away.
I do actually believe there is something else about my house though. Strange shit happens in it, nothing major, just, strange.
Some of it inspired the darksiders, especially that scary ass picture in the dining room (I had to sleep in there once when I was little and it freaked me out insanely. It still does, its a picture of my ancestor, but in typical Victorian fashion, the glare just looks empty and souless. Nasty :P
I've heard of these before... I THINK there was a topic on this some time ago. Anybody got a link?

Sex helps you sleep... for example, ever since I had kids I've been so darn knackered all the time that despite drinking gallons of coffee a day I still fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow and sleep dreamlessly until the kids wake up...
I used to have dreams, now thats weird.
Night Terrors aren't so age-sensitive. I have a friend who is 23 years old and she still gets them regularly unless someone she knows well is in the room sleeping with her.
At least.. that's what she told me.
It's not that adults don't get night terrors, it's just that children are more prone to them and children that have them also often grow out of them. This happened both with myself and my father.
Strange, I've never even heard about night terrors. I've never experienced one, nor has any of my close ones. Seems like a common problem.
It could very well be epilepsy, you should meet a neurologist
It's not a common problem at all, actually. When I was a kid, they really didn't know much about it. I read on wikipedia that 3% of children have them, but that number seems quite high to me.
I have not experienced that, but it does sound scary. But i have had times when trying to go to sleep or taking a nap, and i will be woken up by a violent shaking of my arms or legs. I will be half asleep and it feels like somebody has grabbed my arm or leg and started to shake it. It is so weird, that it is hard to describe. It is almost like i am falling and my arms start waving without me even doing it.
It's like being on a roller coaster in your dream and then awakening, and your body still moves. I wish i could describe this better, but when it happens to me, it is like what the heck...creeps me out a little, then i have to try and go to sleep again.
I've also had weird experiences where i would dream, wake up, still think i'm dreaming....but i'm actually awake but still in sleep mode. That was scary too, and also hard to describe.

This happens when you're heart skips a beat. (Apparently)...
Also what you're describing is weird yeah. I used to get it a lot and I use to suffer from schizophrenia and really just get used to it. It'll go away. (this is relating to the dream thing)
You know, I don't often think about night terrors anymore, but in looking around the internet, I find that I'm in good company. From wikipedia:
"The most famous avowed sufferer of night terrors is probably H. R. Giger. H. P. Lovecraft is widely believed to have experienced them as well."
Well, perhaps this is why I am, as my girlfriend says, "fucked up".

I have GAD but definitively not that. My Anxiety causes all kinds of sleep problems.
I used to wake up with sleep paralysis...haven't recently, but I'm sure it will happen again. While I don't personally believe this tidbit, but I read somewhere, when I was researching it because it was freaking me out, that many of the people who experience this are in some way psychic. Once again, I personally don't believe that...but it is interesting.
It's quite a terrifying experience, and if I never have another one, I'll be quite content in life.

I'd love to think that this thing is a paranormal experience, but I don't think so. Both times it happened I was lying on bed tired, but not sleeping. So I guess it was most likely sort of a "half-sleep". Like I said in another thread here a while ago, if I could read the words I could see on the ceiling and make sense out of them I could say that it was some sort of divine message directed to me, but they were moving around so fast that I couldn't.

sorry, it's just your brain messing around with your body, like usual.
Eric
I've a friend who's 37 and still gets about one episode a year.
