Ok now before you get excited its not been done, has it?
Well anyway I was just wondering what your thoughts and knowledge comprehend about htis topic?
by "done", do you mean time travel itself, or a thread about time travel?
Time travel, real get in my flying machine and "ZAM" 4006 !
Sure, didn't you see back to the future?

You. Stop linking to them, immediately.
That domain isn't registered yet, but it will be registered in the past.
Pudding of the Future will use his time traveling device to go back in history and register http://www.privateerpuddingrocks.com, and hence will create an alternate reality. Future Haddas has obviously been tampering with the laws of time, seeing as he knows of the future events that take place in the past.
If you're confused, read Mr Colossal's book
Well obviously I went forward to the lapaset meet and beat Haddas and then somehow made him edit his post today. Yes. ¬¬
So... who volunteers to go back in time and stop Afflict making this confusing thread?
I do, SO yeah what is better daffodils or Daisies?
You can't. Meeting yourself in same room and time will make it all collapse thus you stop to exist. Man, never seen those movies?
Ah ha your wrong my friend, see what crap is on cable...
The thory of this is that there ar emultiple dimensions so its impossible to kill yourself or etc family or anything to stop your existance. Or that in the parralel dimension you never even exist and that you cannot therfor meet yourself. There is so many interesting theories out there and someone wants to know about the daffodils...?
Do you agree that if time travel were at all possible, that only travelling into the past would be possible, and not the future? The future has not happened yet, and as far as I know my older self has not come into my timeline to have a cup of tea with me.
Time does not exist. (http://www.timecube.com/)

But for the people you would visit by travelling back in time, you were someone from the future. Then the question is: Are the future, the present and the past existing parallel?
But really: If you would go into the past, it would already have been eaten by the Langoliers. That's for sure.

Unless they managed to get the plane working again and flew back through the worm hole!
Though I am also of the school of thought that time does not exist. There is no travelling along it, as far as I'm concerned.
I was looking for somebody to go back in time with me. This is not a joke. You'll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. Safety not guaranteed. (http://timetraveler.ytmnd.com/) I have only done this once before.
This is what 12 monkeys taught me about the future.

Let's stop calling this place "General Discussion" and start calling it "Ball-Of-Crap-Where-We-Put-Stuff-No-One-Cares-About".
My policy is that people who don't like the kind of threads we have in gen-gen should start making whatever kinds of threads they think we -should- have ^_- Get on it, Nipper!

But traveling back in time would mean that your past you will see a future you and have tea?

Well.. the events have to happen a FIRST time, right? Maybe this is the first time the events have occured...

See now, if pudding were to be able to travel back in time in his lifetime, he would have. And undoubtedly he would also register the domainname.
However, since it isn't registered yet, it is safe to assume that he never will be able to go back in time or else the domain would have been registered already..
Once he had back his little trip to history, we (from our perception) wouldn't have known better than that privateerpudding.com was registered. So since it still isn't, we now he failed..
And besides, where the hell are we gonna get 21.1 gigawatts from?
To Magintz,
Don't use the time machine!

A seminar on time travelling will be held last week.
It requires 2 seperite methods to travil forward and backward in time. to get to the future be fore anyone else all you gott to do is go a REALLY fast.To go to the past is more difficalt and from what I here a past-going time machine can only go back as far as the date of its creation. which means its like whiskey, the older it gets the better it is. one wonderment I always had was, now if you go to relitivstic speeds you go into the future. BUT the way ther describe it it is always in a staight line, your always GOING somewere. what about a giant centerfuge? you get in and slowly but surly accilerate up to near light speed. would the same relitivistic effects happen? would you get out IN THE FUTURE?
Spell check, dude.
But why could you only go back as far as the time machine's creation? That would depends totally upon the way the time machine worked. If it's a car, like in BttF, that comes with you in the time travelling process. If it's something that only sends you back, then problem solved again because it stays in it's own time.
I'm curious as to what you meant by "from what I hear" too ^_^ You know someone who's an authority on time travel??
i think thats a hawkin's theory about only travelling between periods of time machine... ness.
Think of it like a computer, you need a modem on either end to send and recieve the data, kinda makes sense if you transfer that theory to time travel.
Techinically your always traveling in time (Assuming that time exists). Slowing down or speeding up time is fairly simple. So traveling in the future is possible, because we are already traveling to the future. However, reversing time, is a bit more difficult. I don't think it's not possible, though. I believe we've already sent back a particle in time...I remember reading about it somewhere, but I can't validate whether or not that is true. Quantum Mechanics, will show us the way to do that, if it exists. Of course you can theorize all you want about how time travel will work, but it doesn't mean anything until/if we actually become capable of doing so.
It's also silly to say, so in so has never used time travel, because he hasn't traveled back in time to see himself, even though he said he would. This doesn't disprove that time travel exists, or a person won't time travel. It just proves that a person who is capable or not of going back in time, didn't go back in time and tell themselves they're from the future. Which would probably be the case anyway. Because even if they do invent time travel in the near future, I doubt it would be open to the public, and I doubt they would spend so much money just to prove to their past selves that it could be done.
As far as going as far back in time as the time machine, itself. I can see how that would be plausable. Although, I can see other ways. If anything, the most plausable use of time travel, wouldn't be to send people back in time, though. It would be to send information about future discoveries. So if one were to make a time machine that could go back in time, they'de have a gold mind.
I think if time fly's when your having fun. Then going back in time, must be wretched.

Time travel is obviously impossible.
Recommended reading material (somewhat surprisingly) is GURPS Time Travel. It offers an elaborate analysis of the various kinds of time travel used in fiction and alleged to in science, and ramifications thereof (such as the kill-your-own-grandpa syndrome, resilience of time lines, paratemporal feedback etc). Also, it has some nice ideas on what you should take on a trip (Should you go naked and pretend to be confused? Bring a swiss army knife and a bucketload of books? Train up on your survival and linguistic skills?)
Recommended fiction includes "All you zombies" by Robert Heinlein, "The man who folded himself" by David Gerrold, "Pastwatch: the Redemption of Christopher Columbus" by Orson Scott Card, and "The End of Eternity" by Isaac Asimov. There's plenty more, of course.
Recommended viewing includes "Back to the Future" of course, especially the second film, and "Twelve Monkeys". I have yet to see another science fiction time travel flic that is even remotely believable.
Recommended adventure gaming includes "Sorceror" by Infocom, and "Day of the Tentacle" by LucasArts. I am unaware of any other game titles that actually do something interesting with time travel (as opposed to simply sticking the player in the past).

Though that guy is afraid of th first contact :P
Anyway, it wasn't long time ago when me and 2 of my friends wrote a big proof, that time actually can be measured chronologically... I won't be posting i here though because I don't think anyone would have interest in it, and it'd take time to translate it and I don't have any.
But anyhow, let's picture a rocket going in the space, going round the earth, and nearing the speed of light. Then let's imagine two twins, born the same time, the other one on earth and the other one in the space ship... now because the rocket is moving, the one in it will get a different time in his watch once he's down again... so basically after his surf in the space he would be younger than his twin brother. Depending on how long he spend going almost at the speed of light. IT's called the time dilatation.
Added that this is because the time goes slower while in such high speed as the rocket would be.
Yes, but cryostasis will basically do the same, and time dilation won't actually send you back in time unless you can break the light speed barrier.

Only if your faster than a speeding haggis...
Although it was short and limited, I do remember enjoying the game Shadow of memories, where you'd get killed, go back in time and try to stop it from happening.
Of course! How could I forget Slouching Towards Bedlam (http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?gameid=4633)? It's a masterful adventure game.
