Too much money?!?!?

I've referenced the fact that I'm now back to working at a burger-joint. It's not a very fulfilling lifestyle and I really rather don't enjoy it. This past week (Monday 3 Feb. - Sunday 9 Feb.) I was quite lucky to get not a single day off work thanks to 9 people quitting this week alone.

However with my average hours on the last paycheck (bi-weekly pay) being 70 hours a week I managed to pull a keen $822.56 post-taxes. I'll be getting paid again on the 17th and it looks as though I'll be pulling in excess of $800 again. I have $200 left to pay off on my six-month premium for auto insurance which is currently my only bill remaining aside from gasoline (around $40 - $50 a week).

Having never been put in a serious position of actually having "money left over" I'm rather beginning to feel worried that I'm making too much money. That is of course an absurd thing to say...the point however being that I have never had money.

I've discussed moving out of my parents house and though this would certainly help to do away with my excessive amount of money, I'm unsure where exactly I truly want to go with my life.

Certainly I can think of plenty of things I could spend my money on, though admittedly having any to spend in the first place is a very wonderful yet daunting prospect.

Also, considering I "flip burgers for a living*" making $6 an hour**, an $800 check isn't too shabby. :=

*Noting of course that I still live with my parents and don't pay any rent or utility expenses.
**I'm unsure of "overtime" regulations in other countries but in the U.S. anything over 40 hours worked in one week is considered overtime and merits a minimum of 1.5 times normal pay (i.e., $9 an hour for me :D)

Is it possible to be "making too much" money?

Plus, you never know when you might need it.

Start a savings account. Really, that would be the smartest thing to do.

Ah, I recall working at McDonald's last year.
The job sucked, but I made $300 working a couple hours, 2 to 3 days a week.
I work one day a week at Chilis now, eight hours, and make $100.I hate it there, but the pay is excellent.
The fediverse needs great indie game developers! Find me there!

monkey0506

The pay isn't great on an hour-to-hour basis, but 60 hours a week isn't too hectic honestly. I've actually found that depending who I'm working with it can actually be quite easy to work 60 hours. 70 isn't toooo much worse.

Honestly one of the only reasons I stay at this job though is that it's very close to home, and though, as I said the pay isn't that amazing, I always have the option of more hours. That is the benefit of a 24-hour restaurant.

Layabout

Put it in a savings account!! The one thing I am rubbish at is saving. The concept of too much money is impossible for me to imagine!

Like I said...I know it sounds absurd but I was just calculating today what my next check should be, and when I realized it was going to be over $800...for some reason that bothered me. As if I didn't want it to be that much. Probably I'm just tired. 8)

My life wisdom or experience in this question.
Give your heart to the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
He does not make mistakes. He will lead you the best way you ever could go.

Money - a sensitive theme
As long I give the tithe, through my families hands is going exactly the double sums, I do earn.
My wife is very precise in accounting - sionce we are married - and writes down every red penny. After her years end balance I earned by my job (just to name any sum) 50 thousands. Euro or USD does not matter. But all money, going through my families hands has been exactly 100.thousands.
Year by year.
A true miracle.

Can I take influence on?
Yes.
See the prophet Malachi, chapter three
8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

Put your money on the very best bank account ever found - the kingdom of the Lord - not too much - just what the Lord wants. Tithe, mission offer, givings in social work of church - and make some gifts to the poor you will meet from time to time. No more - just what the Good Shepheard does await from you.

I have been with the church to Swaziland, South Africa in the time of brother war in Mocambique. I was there for building construction. The whole country Swaziland was filles by refugees from Mocambique.

A family home in Germany might cost threehundred thousands Euro, in the USA about 50 thousand USD - in Africa just between five to ten thousands.

See the Lords wise economy?
He does make the very best from our money - in case we are willing to let him reign in this question.

This will help too (indirect, invisible - as another miracle, done by the Lord) your home country to hold the christian culture, to hold its identity and to resist the terror of Islam.

The arisen and living Lord Jesus Christ will make from your life (and from your money) the very, very best - you never can imagine today.

My experience. My best tip to you.

Be blessed!

Oh no way

I wouldn't recommend tithing that extra money you make. Instead you should open an online savings account, deposit that shit and watch it grow  :D

You can check Bankrate.com for a list of banks and their interest rates, what they require for opening deposits, and how interest is compounded (daily or monthly). Currently I have two internet savings accounts with ING Direct and E-Trade, that pay 3.40 and 4.10 percent interest respectively, which beats my 0.30 percent rate with my traditional savings account at LaSalle Bank/Bank of America, as well as my interest checking which pays a lowly 0.20 percent. Internet-based savings accounts can have higher rates because their staff are centralised and they have much less rent to pay.

The reason I have so many accounts is because the FDIC only insures accounts up to $100,000, forcing me to hold several accounts to be truly covered  >:( it's rather annoying but oh well.

Monkey, if you feel you have too much money, give it to me, I'm broke as I haven't got a job yet := but other than that I suggest you do put it in a savings account, although you could move out now, it'd be better to let it grow so you set yourself up for further in life, and move out a little later on.
Also sidenote, we've got enough religious flame threads that have gotten locked after 20 pages, I doubt we need another so try keep it cool guys.

Corsten - you do know that those magic underpants you wear have masonic symbols on them, right?  The Freemasons would not want you to give your hard earned money away, so tweak your left and right nipple and remember...REMEMBER THE FREEMASONS!

Andail

I think a person who worries about earning too much money is one who has not yet started living an adult life.
With rent and bills and all additional costs you have to earn at least a doctor's income to consider yourself excessively paid.
Here's roughly what my budget is like, per month (in euros):
Salary: 2100
--
Taxes: 550
Student loan mortgage:50
Rent: 320 (sharing a shabby appartment in the outskirts of town)
Bills (phone, internet, gas etc): 50
Petrol: 60
Groceries: 300
Restaurants, pubs, clubs: 150
Charities: 20
Clothes: 50
--
2100-1500=600

So, if I don't buy anything extravagant, I can save 600 euros (roughly 900 dollars) per month.

Nikolas

I'm not sure I should go about our earnings as a family, but I can sure share the amount of money that goes into rent and nursery ALONE: (in $)
Rent: $2000
Nursery: $2300
Bills, food, car, etc: $A LOT

In all honesty $800 are pretty much nothing! And I'm dead sorry to be that serious but $800 for 70 hours a week is extremely low. 70 hours a week means 10 hours a day in a 7 day week or 12 hours for a 6 day week! Do you really rest at all? I'm honestly worried at someone working 70 hours a week! It seems too much! Especially if he's "complaining" (not really) that he has too much money!

Carsten Schermuly:

50,000 euros=$76,884
$50,000=32,514 euros
I think you meant 50,000 yen, right?

So if I invest in this particular religion, the Lord will effectively double my yearly income? I thank you for your astonishing and honest advice.

I'm not sure that I do, but your ideas are intriguing to me. It seems only reasonable that He would have an influence on real estate pricing, and that he would use this influence to make the world a better place in this wise manner.

WTF.

I would definitely buy something I was dreaming about for long. And if I dont have anything like that, I would open a saving account. That is probably the best thing you can do.

And remember - time is money. So you can work less and do anything else instead! As for me, I sometimes value my time more than money I could make spending that time in work.

Dave Gilbert

Speaking from experience, Monkey, I'd suggest saving that money any way you can.   The day might come when you want to quit working at McD's and want to dedicate all of your time to finding a new career or direction in your life.  Having a 3-4 month financial cushion will help immensely.

The quiestion is
what is my goal? A lot of money or a happy life?
OR
To have both is impossible.
That is the critical point.

A lot of money is a burden, but not identic to a happy life. To own wealth does mean, to serve the wealth as a slave. Watch the rich people - are they happy? No. They do hunt for happiness, but can not get. See their doings. They are often very unhappy. Look nearer.

Once someone wants to make really money, he does play on the internet stock market, especially on the forex market. High risk - but high win. There are offers to get up to 20 percents a week. A higher offer nobody can find on earth. It needs to learn alot and to be flexible in decisions what to do.

The combination
Internet + Forex market = the fastest way ever to let money grow.
It is the top in money making.

But the Lord also masters the finance markets of the world. He is king over all corners of the world. He is a mighty rich father. To trust him - and not in money - is thousand times better.
To become a child of the Lord must not mean to be poor. It means to trust in the Good Shepheard. The Good Shepheard does not leave his sheeps hungry - he gives by filled hands - richly, richly.
Get eternal life.
Get the crown of life - and be happy. There is no other security, also not in financial questions. Once the town Jericho was connected, he has said: "All gold is mine". He is rich. He does own all - and gives in grace and love.

That is his motive - he does love us.
Meet a decision.

Be blessed richly - to become truely happy!
