Carsten, you don't have to post every single word that those voices keep telling you.

At least not in the same weird dialect. You just make yourself seem more of a zealot! ;)

This is brilliant. I always thought a crazy preacher dude would be an entertaining addition to our little cast of forum personalities...

The Good Shepheard does not leave his sheeps hungry - he gives by filled hands - richly, richly.

Yeah, the big guy just has a funny way of going about with it really.

Yaaaaaaaaay, I smell a religious debate coming out of a topic that has nothing to do with religion! Hooray AGS community!

DAMN YOU CHRISTIANS! DAMN YOU ALL! OR DON'T! HOWEVER THE DEBATE GOES!

We've had our fair share.

You won't complain so much when He manipulates the stock market in your favour.

Awesome.

As regards to money, having too much just means you obviously aren't buying enough pointless crap. SPEND! ACQUIRE! CONSUME!

But the Lord also masters the finance markets of the world. He is king over all corners of the world. He is a mighty rich father. To trust him - and not in money - is thousand times better.
To become a child of the Lord must not mean to be poor. It means to trust in the Good Shepheard. The Good Shepheard does not leave his sheeps hungry - he gives by filled hands - richly, richly.
Get eternal life.
Get the crown of life - and be happy. There is no other security, also not in financial questions. Once the town Jericho was connected, he has said: "All gold is mine". He is rich. He does own all - and gives in grace and love.

That is his motive - he does love us.
Meet a decision.

Be blessed richly - to become truely happy!

Actually, I didn't read this very closely the first time. It's bloody brilliant! I wish I'd thought of it first!

I'll give you some grace and love in exchange for 10 bucks.

On the original topic, as Andail says you have to be living in your own place to realise just how much money you need to get by. Rent, bills and food use up the vast majority of my salary, leaving very little for extravagent spending ... whilst it does sound boring to save your cash, better to do it now while you can afford to than 5 years down the line when you're struggling to survive.

Having said that, with US interest rates currently at 3.5% and predicted to fall further amid the recession, the return on your savings would probably be pretty poor. So thinking about it, blow it all on an HD TV and shark costume instead. Those things can only appreciate in value.

voh

There's never any excuse NOT to get a shark costume. I've got 7 different ones.

The hammerhead is my favourite :=
Still here.

I think probably one of the major problems here is that I don't know what I really truly want to do with my life. I don't know where I want to go or what I want to be.

One of the biggest things holding me back in this respect is my dependency on friends. I know that may sound incredibly lame but it's hard for me to make friends that I can really connect with, and without that connection my entire life just goes to hell.

I've always thought how cool it would be to get a job at a small gaming company. I'm pretty strongly of the opinion that once the industry gets too big they just lose all focus (LucasArts, QED).

Knowing how to get there has always been somewhat of a problem for me.

As for the "problem" of "excessive" money, I found one way of solving that problem. That being that I have every intention of buying a $250 USD phone for a girl at work that I honestly don't know that well. But she seems cool and the phone would make her happy. So.

There's actually plenty of things that I could reasonably invest money in. New tires on my truck. A new truck. :o Somehow driving a vehicle that was made in the same year I was (1988) just seems a bit disturbing. Makes me feel old! :P

Another of the major problems (aside from not really knowing for sure what it is I want out of life) is that I don't know how to get what I want (probably related to the first issue!). Sure I can expand my DVD collection a bit further, buy that Xbox 360 I've had my eyes on, and blow my money on fairly useless junk, but that's probably what disturbs me the most. I know I will end up blowing my money.

Having never had money before I don't know how to properly invest in anything. However an HD TV and a shark costume do seem two good places to start!!! :=

Hmmm...Seems Fry's Electronics is running a special on a 50" Panasonic Plasma HDTV...down from $2599 to $1677. I should jump on this...of course by the time I have the money (it would take me probably 2-3 checks (4-6 weeks) (at least) to get that much) it will probably be back to normal price.  Also I should explore my options. If I'm going to spend Xthousand dollars on a TV, I don't want one that's shit! 8)

Try drugs, they'll get rid of your excess money... and then when you run out you can steal things for a little extra on the side  :=

My car was built 1976. I was built 1987. If the car still runs - why upgrade when you could buy the shark suit???

Personally I favour the saving option... if you're serious about getting to work with a gaming company, you might have start on a small salary (just guessing here) until you've got some experience... and staying up late at night, dressed as a shark, hugging a 50" screen and trying to remember what that girl you bought a phone for once actually looked like ain't gonna pay the rent or keep you fed. Unless of course you can get people to pay you for the privelige of watching.

Oh, and if Phone Girl From Work takes a shine to you, you can probably forget about the big screen. Especially remembering how you spent all your money on that other girl at valentine's day a while back....

;)

I hope it's not an attempt to pick her up...you'll either come across as weirdly generous or unnervingly weird. And either way, you'll lose a lot of money.

Ahem. Seems like the majority of replies are not getting through here... you're not awesomely rich, you'll need that money once you're not living with your parents--you don't have excessive money, and there is no problem. Or am I missing something?
