Hi All Good Peeps.

My Brother has been experincing props with 'Batman - Arkham City' on GFW Live since he recently got a Win 8 machine.
I would realy appreciate it if someone could help him out.

I shall now pass my keyboard to my Bro so he can explain.
----------------------------------------------------------
When I start up Batman Arkham City GFW Live doesnt appear on the in-game title screen. Even pressing the HOME key
does nothing. I couldnt even continue from where I left off because my save had vanished. All it would let me do
is begin a new game. This is something I dont want to do. I copied and transferred the WB folder containing my auto
save from my old comp across to my Windows 8 machine. I was also having troubles with Fable 3 concerning corrupt saves
untill someone online had suggested copying the Xlive folder from the old computer, Deleting the one on the new computer
and then replacing it with the copied folder. After doing this my saves worked. Upon doing this I thought it might resolve
the problem with the Batman saves not appearing and GFW Live aswell. But it didnt. I have no problem with GFW Live on any other
games I play, Just Batman.

I have had a pointless game of Email tennis between Microsoft and WB games who are both blaming the other. I was told to download
and reinstall the most recent version of GFW Live client which I have done but still Batman refuses to recognise it.

If anyone can shed some much needed light on this prob I would be most grateful.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry guys for this huge message but my Bro wanted to explain the prob as well as he could

Yours.
Jay.

Hi Khris.

Thanks for that link.
We followed the instructions to the letter but sadly still no joy.

Just thought that I would mention that he didn't buy 'Batman' through Steam.
He purchased the boxed version.

The game starts but GFW Live sign in screen doesn't appear.
He can still play the game but it's pointless to do so as he can't save his progress.

Thanks for your help.
Jay.

You realise GFWL is shutting down? Might be something connected to that.
I don't want the world, I just want your half

Anian: I have Arkham City and I can login and resume my save game just fine. You don't have to use an online account.

I actually remember struggling with this too though, back when I reinstalled the game on my fresh Win 7. I was uninstalling and reinstalling GFW a few times, and trying all kinds of stuff I read in forums. I did manage to get it to work in the end, and I still remember that it was something really trivial, but I'm drawing a blank currently, sorry.

Googled a bit and this could actually be it:
QuoteThis actually did work for me. GFWL overlay started showing up after I did this. Go into C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and copy everything that has xlive in the beginning of its name. There is a folder and at the bottom 5 files that should be copied. Then go to C:\Windows\System32 and paste those that you copied with xlive in the name. Start BatmanAC and enjoy.

Actually, I'm pretty sure now that copying xlive dlls was what did it for me. I still remember the incredible satisfaction when I finally got the damn popup :)

Hi Khris.

Well I'll be damned.

I just came to tell everyone that my Bro has resolved the problem by finding this article here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/57400/discussions/0/810922863429912277/

It turns out that it's exactly the same cure as you have already done with your own copy of Batman.
When everything worked and Windows Live signed him in he got so excited that I thought he was going to piss his pants. (laugh)

Thanks for all your help and time spent looking.

Yours.
Jay and Bro.
