...thought you guys might be interested:
An hour ago Ultima 6 Project (http://u6project.com/) has been released!
Adventure meets RPG
8 years of development time and it is finally here!
This game is everything over-marketed commercial pieces of cra... ..."entertainment software" are NOT!
I will spare you with all those grand features which captured me personally, there're just too many.
Worth mentioning though, they created their own conversation engine from scratch.
Really extensive and interesting conversations (not generic ones!) with dialog trees and all.
It actually matters, not only what you say, but how you say it at times. (which other RPG has that?)
Love the in-game Compendium too, encyclopedic knowledge about the world you travel in, plus,
keeping you updated on your various quests.
BUT, MOST important to US: ...tons and tons of clue gathering, sleuthing & riddle solving!
Brilliant! ;D
Take a look and let me know what you think people,

Grand, isn't it!! ;D I was so looking forard to this release. Did you ever play the original U6 Gord? And which magazine is it, that featured an article about this project?
It's download time... just a shame about this POS connection, sigh...
It is indeed! Was just about to write you PM, can scratch that now. Explore cross country - it's encouraged and very well rewarded ;). Enjoy!
Oh, and a small detail that was negected in this thread and not so visible in the main site:
This is not a standalone freeware game, but a Dungeon Siege 1 mod.

Umm, I always had problems with the old Ultima games that I downloaded, but I was still curious about them, waiting for their remakes. I don't remember anything about this being a mod was mentioned in
Level when I saw about this remake a few years ago.
From the site:
What will I need to own to play the Ultima 6 Project?
You will need to own a fully-patched copy of Dungeon Siege (or Legends of Aranna).
Do I need to own the original game? Where am I supposed to find it?
While we have no way of checking this, we would encourage our fans to purchase the original Ultima VI or the Ultima Collection from Amazon.com or some other site that sells it.

I "neglected this small detail" ;) as you say, because I just wanted to inform you about the release.
And because I personally dislike threads, that spam you with info. I much rather prefer to search
for information on my own account on such matters, like anian did.
Otherwise they ofton tend to end up sounding like promotional ads. Didn't want that. Wanted
you guys to make up your own mind, if you were interested. Call it a very personal preference of mine. ;)
PS: Gord, it's a 'total conversion mod', that's slightly different from a common mod. They only use the 3D engine as
base - if it wasn't proprietary, you wouldn't need to buy Dungeon Siege at all.
They needed an engine and that was the most appropriate available at that time (9 years ago!).
For non-commercial projects to build a 3D-engine from scratch would be a little much to ask for. :P
DS costs around 5$ anywhere on the net!
