Hi there!
I've been thinking of a good story for my game "Undeniable "http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?board=8;action=display;threadid=7043"
For it is a christian adventure game, I must make it also fun for people that do not believe in God or just hate the religic stuff. So I came up with the next story.
----------------------------------
While you are walking at the market, looking for some things to buy, suddenly in the blink of an eye, everyone around you disappears. All you see are some clothes they were wearing... but all people around you except for you, and another lady are just gone! You screem it out, because all you wanted was a short walk at the market, and then return to you home to sit the rest of the day behind your pc, but now suddenly all people disappear. What could be the reason of this? Are the aliens finally invating earth... is it a glimbs or a dream... that I suddenly wake up, and find myself back in my bed all sweaty? But this is too real to be a dream! What could be the cause of all this, and second.. why are they gone, and I'm still here??
------------------------------
Ok, that's in short where the story of this game is about ;) I hope you like it :D
I'm sorry but why did you start this thread here? Of course it's a great story, but I am atheist as many other people are. Isn't making fun of unbelievers as bad as making fun of the believers?
Hi Minimi,
You'll find that most of us are pretty open-minded about such things and appreciate any game that people devote hard work and effort.
Although many here are not strictly Christian, most of us can respect Christian beliefs as much as any religious beliefs -- it's mainly those who constantly preach the word of God on these forums that annoy us (an example a while back included one annoying poster putting random bible quotes in every thread).
As for your game, it sounds very interesting -- But don't reveal any more of the story, or else it will spoil the surprises.
But the story has got my attention! :)
EDIT: Sasha, a little respect please -- the guy (or girl?) has only come to tell his (or her?) game idea that's based on some Christian ideals and he hasn't made fun of anyone -- and even if most of us are athiest (I'm actually agnostic), shouldn't we respect others regardless of the existence of God or not?
I'm in rapture at this idea ;D
This idea reminds me of the "Left Behind" series of books. I think they also made a movie of it... let me check IMDB... hmmm actually 4 movies so far! All straight-to-video, though.
This is the first one:
http://uk.imdb.com/Title?0190524
and to annoy DG:
"Blessed are the adventure game makers, for they will be called the children of CJ."
SSH: Hehehe, cute -- But if only you were here to meet Santiagro, you'd really know what I mean. ;D
Ok, first of all, I am a boy, and second I know that most of the people aren't christian... so I'm not going to do holy here. I just let you know that there is no magic stuff about this game.. for the rest... it's gonna have the same good puzzles and humor ;)
Yes i saw it too.. .the movies of Cloud Ten Pictures!
Welcome to the forums, Minimi. AGS is pretty easy to use and you can ask tricky questions here if you need help, so give it a try. The game could be very interesting.
I played some old text-based christian adventure games in the 80s: one called Galilee and another where you had to try and stop the wise men telling Herod where Jesus was or something like that. Oh, and a Pilgrim's progress game. Never completed any. The Pilgrim's progress game was full of bits where you had to type an exact phrase: e.g. "run and do not look back". I got stuck trying to defeat Apollyon.
Those were the days: I even bought Quill and Illustrator for my Spectrum to write my own games. Never finished any, though. I also typed in the BASIC listings from those Usbourne adventure game books.
EDIT:
I think Femme Fatale (Sasha) mis-read your first point about "making the game fun for non-believers" as "the game makes fun of non-believers"!

I will try to look up my written text-adventure, it's not a christian adventure because the title is "Albino Virus";) So if I find it, ill post a link to the installation of it in this thread ok? take care
I noticed you also have a game called Bugger in which you can become the 'Bugger god' :O
Good luck with your game though, a christian message wouldn't put me off and I'm an athiest.. just try to make the game good :)

lol.. yupz... also bugger :) but that site is pretty freaking wrong... because almost every link is broken! So I'm busy with making a better website, and yes, I'm doing my best to make the game very good. With lots of original puzzles and stuff.. but all together I think the demo will be there if everything go's as planned within a month.. and that demo will then be about 10% of the full game... so I guess it will take some time to finish the whole part!
It's funny -- although I'm a bitter agnostic, I still enjoy Christian-related art and creative expression.
For example, I'm currently reading 'Roger's Version' by John Updike -- It's about a computer wizzkid who tries to prove the existence of God with his computer and a divinity professor who'd prefer to leave the existence a mystery.
I also enjoy some of the biblical epics such as Ben Hur, or alternative takes on the Christ story, like Last Temptation of Christ (Probably not the best film to see if you are Christian actually -- it's a film about Christ directed by Martin Scorsese).
I also enjoy other films about spiritual leaders like "Kundan" (The Dalai Lama) or Dicky Attenborough "Gandhi".
Are you going to go and see Mel Gibson's film on the life of Christ, entirely in Aramaic with no subtitles, then? I think he's aiming too lowbrow, myself. Too mass-market.
DG: if you're bitter about Christianity, you might appreciate some of the satire of Adrian Plass. He's a Christian, so he's not nasty, but he certainly takes the Micheal out of plenty of silly things that Christians (particularly evangelical and charismatic protestants) do.
Of course, Ben Hur is more Jewish than Christian, but its nevertheless an excellent movie. Ol' Chuck was great in these kind of roles: shame that he's such a gun nut these days.
SHH, I'm iffy about mel Gibson's film too -- for me, Scorsese made the best movie about Christ.
I'll look out for Plass though.
And on Ben Hur: notice I said 'biblical' instead of 'Christian'. ;D
Then again, keep in mind that Christ features in Ben Hur.
And also don't forget that Christ was also a jew too.
And yes, it is a shame to see the man who walked alongside Martin Luther King is also the same man taking up arms with such rapid determination.
why the heck are you still talking about the fact that it's a christian game.. cmon... you want to argue about it all day long... and then after endless argueing, you wanna tell me, that you do not care about it...
but yes... there are alot cool christian movies... now just wait for the demo of my game, before you stick a sticker on me.... that im offending any kinda religion or opinion. I'm just a regular boy of only 16 years old, who likes adventures alot, but gets irritated by the fact that in alot good adventures are magic stuff involved.
got my point now? ::)
bytheway.. i have updated screenshot for ya!

For some strange reason I like Jesus Christ Superstar. If you haven't seen it I'd say don't waste your time if you don't like hippie 70's rock opera (which I don't but I find this movie strangely appealing).
I was in our high school production of JCS!
Good to hear you are making a christian game minimi, and welcome to the forums. I am also a christian, and will be looking forward to your game.

*OFTOPIC*Hey... i like Homestarrunner too! :) but I prefer StrongSad and the Cheat!! and the Poopsmith comes at 3rd place in coolest characters!! EVERYBODY EVERYBDY!
but JCS is not a christian movie... but thats a whole other thing! :D I JUST FINISHED SCENE 1 of the game :)
Hi and welcome, Minimi! I think the plot sounds really interesting - Being left alone and all that. All that reminds me about though, is one episode of the norwegian comedy show "Fleksnes"... Hehe... Sorry.
Anyway, keep on working on the game, and good luck!
And in some ways you might say that I'm an atheist, but I'm always quite interested and fascinated in different religions, folklore and beliefs.
So I never mind games based around these themes! ;D
well, actually, in the game "Undeniable" you are playing as an atheist... :p
Okay....Strongbad has gotta be the coolest....heh...
