Unexpected promotions

I think I mentioned to a few fellow AGSers (a very long time ago) that I'm a journalist for my school's newspaper staff.Ã,  Ã, Actually, I was associate editor for over a year.Ã,  But the thing is, a day or two ago, I was informed that the editor-in-chief couldn't handle it anymore (she was stressing out from not knowing the how to use the new program or something) and she wanted out--so now I've been promoted to the head editor, which is something I never expected to happen in the timeframe that it has.Ã,  (I didn't expect to become editor-in-chief until next year, at the earliest.)
I was just wondering if anyone else has had any unexpected experiences like that.Ã,  Some sort of promotion from out of the blue, or just something random happening that you never thought you'd be part of.Ã,  I think they could be interesting to hear about if you have...

Actually, I kinda had the same exact experience when I was in high school. I decided to finally join the newspaper staff my senior year...and I was made editor-in-chief with TWO, count them, TWO assistants-to-the-editor. :D It was great. Towards the middle of the year, I ended up having two female assistants. :)

Ah, high school...good times, good times... :P
