Title: Unknown music genre
Post by: joelphilippage on Fri 30/04/2010 02:26:28
I'm trying to Identify a genre of music suitable for my game. The game focuses greatly on Celtic mythology. I want something instrumental and classic. Is the music in Ben Jordan 3 what I'm looking for? What would that be called?

If its based on Celtic mythology then surely you want celtic music.. which is classically associated with folk music.. look up fairport convention and pentangle.

Those are really good suggestions, Calin. Go for music with nice folksy roots. A better search term would perhaps be "Irish traditional music". Searching for "Celtic music" seems to lead mainly to new-agey Clannad/Enya sounding stuff (*shudder*)

... And there'd better be a drunken fight scene set to The Pogues (bonus points for drunk mythological creatures fighting).

But seriously, yeah, mix in celtic folk music with orchestral music. That's the route you should go. Also, celtic music is really easy to make, it's all (mostly) in the rhythm and going up and down the minor scale.
