Yes, it's true! Theres a very very heavy storm here in The Netherlands! The wind is almost lifting people up. I couldn't stand outside. Sirenes of ambulances everywhere around. Trees almost blown away!! I never saw such a storm!

I'm just home from a whole day work at the supermarket, and while cycling to home, the storm was coming up. At that time I could cycle pretty good, but right now, it's unbearable!

Is there anywhere else also storm? Or have you had any expierences like this?

I just felt like telling you this, cause im affraid, there will happen lots of accidents (or already happened)  :-\

Here in Germany (60km from Venlo) it sounds windy outside, but nothing special.
Haven't watched the news, so I can't say for sure.

Stay inside and stay safe ...

It's 80 degrees and sunny here in South Florida.

Yeah, it's pretty bad here in Holland. I'm in the Hague, close to sea, and I hear the wind blowing hard against the windows. Thank God for masonry and central heating.

Even in Southern California the wind is blowing.

Last night I couldn't sleep as our big palm tree kept on smacking the window.  There are scratches all over it and I can barely see the ocean outside!

Ever seen the movie Twister?  ;D Filmed in Oklahoma, "tornado alley." It's not very realistic though.

I've had wall clouds (the beginnings of a tornado) directly over my house, dark, huge, and rotating windy monsters. Spring is here and so is tornado season. It was just the other day winds such as you were describing were happening. The trees don't typically blow away unless there are serious winds, like a tornado, because they grow stronger and accustomed to the high winds, as do the people. If someone says there's a tornado in your town, most people will casually reply, "Oh, what street?" It's commonplace and known that the damage is usually only in the narrow path the tornado takes.

I go to Oklahoma state University, but the University of Oklahoma is said to be the best university in the world to learn meteorology (the study of weather). The news stations here always have the most up to date radar technology in the world because of the seriousness of the weather conditions, you can flip on the tv and they will have maps at street level pinpointing exactly where rotations are and where a tornado may drop. Neat stuff. I've actually grown to like the storms, those huge dark clouds with lightening flashing and thunder rattling your bones have a certain beauty to them that is hard to describe.

It's been very windy here in Finland for whole saturday... wait it's sunday already, so it was very windy on saturday and judging the sound coming outside it's still very windy. But it's also pretty warm since the snow has been melting.

Sorry to read that... hope you and relatives are well, but... Isn't a little bit risky that a 2,06 meters high guy goes pedaling up and down? ??? your body will work as a sail, man, you could fly! Take care...
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

A couple of times a year there's winds strong enough to take roofs off.

Half my window is still gone from where it blew off last year.

So I'm glad I'm not in the North where there are cyclones and winds that are worth mentioning.

We had a storm in Brisbane where we had pretty much Cyclonioc winds. Knocked over trees and all that. roofs gone.

High winds in Iowa. Nothing much to block the wind. Well, a dead tree cracked in half just nearly missing my oblivious dog. Hasnt been lifting people yet, so it doesnt seem to be a problem. However, it did snow last week which is very odd.

No breezes here in Northern Florida...a bit hot for this time of year, though.

well, 2 years ago, there was this really strong storm here in the city, but you see we are near the sea so it nothing new.
But this storm was really something, htere were floods all over the city, human waste going through theshafts, trees in the camps falling on the cars, there was even some guy who was swimming in the sea at the time(and we all know that the wind is stronger near the sea), so a fireman went to save him, and he did, but the fireman died.
:(

Hope this wasn't too long.

We've had about four days worth of gale force winds here in the UK. Nothing overly exciting though, I mean, its windy and blustery, a few fences are down and some branches about the place - but no trees have fallen nor have people been lifted off their feet.

Which is a shame.

It's been windy and too rainy for few days now here in Estonia (About 90 km south from Finland). Don't want to stay outside for more than 5 secs.

Is this a coincidence or what, but the weather went bad just as the school holiday begin. And it will probably clear up next week, when holiday ends.

The usual spring-storms should begin in about a month.

It's really odd here.  I'm on the eastern US coast (WV to be exact, which isn't really coast but you probably know what I mean).  Last night we had a big thunderstorm with rain and wind and lightning; you know, all that good stuff.  Well, it was still storming when I went to bed, but I got up this morning and it was snowing.  I can't anything but white fluff out there now.
It's such a switch from the warm weather we had yesterday and I hope it stops soon.  I only like snow when it gives me snow days (immature, I know) but we don't get those anymore thanks to our brilliant board of education.
I'm seriously considering moving somewhere warm...and somewhere where people in authority have higher IQ points.

So, not America or the UK then?

Good point, m0ds.  I'll probably have to start my own country to get the high IQ-ed leaders.  Another planet would probably be best for that.  Any of you want to go with me and be co-founders?

We get some pretty big storms in Sydney, really intense and do a lot of damage about 1 or 2 a year during summer. (This year during summer we had thunder storms very frequently, I don't remember a time when there were as many [and they still brought fuck all rain with them]

My sister Lives in Cairns which is right up near the top right pointy bit of Australia and the whole town was cut off in every direction by flooding, from the recent Cyclone. She's also 8.75 months pregnant so it could be any day now, I hope she can get to a hospital, although both she and her husband are midwives. (but that might not help if there's any major problems, I hope not)

Cyclones are pretty frequent up in the tropics, but they haven't had a wet season up there for 2 years, so I guess the rain is due.
