When i try to launch Gmod 10 (Half-Life sandbox) i see VIDEO MODE NOT SUPPORTED in a gray-with-blue window thing, in front of black abyss.
I don't think it is relevant, but then i took a screenshot of it i saw this:
It's the start background of Gmod, but without the Menu, or version or anything, and with the bar at the bottom.
I know that this is entirely my fault, i messed with the resolution settings, and apparently set it to a mode with my monitor doesn't like.
Can any of you explain to me how do i reset the resolution?
Please don't make fun of me.
EDIT:
The thing where you edit the shortcut by adding -window, or -(resolution) has never worked for me, ever.
Are you sure you are on the forum you think you are? I'm sure most people here don't even know what you are talking about with out googling.

If you know a better forum, then please give me a link.
Hmmm, say, read the official GMod wiki (http://wiki.garrysmod.com/wiki/?title=Main_Page) first? :P
(Googling would help you there.)

It's not a Gmod specific problem, its a monitor issue.
I didn't found the solution on Gmod Wiki, just searched.
I also failed to find anything useful on google. :(
you could always stop being lazy and perhaps google it, or maybe even contact the technical support department of the monitor manufacturer themselves.

I doubt that i will find anything useful.
Some guy had basically the same problem, but nobody responded to him.
...
It appears that Gmod is fully functional, i am only unable to see whatI'm doing.
It works, butI'm blind. Does anyone know how to revert to the default graphic settings without seeing anything?
Thanks everyone, so far.
1) Open up the 'My Games' list in Steam.
2) Right-click on Gary's Mod and choose 'Properties'.
3) Click the 'Set launch options...' button.
4) Type "-width 640 -height 480" (without quotation marks).
5) Click 'Ok' on the launch options window, then 'Close' on the properties window.
6) Double-click Gary's Mod to run it. It'll start in 640x480 mode.
7) Once loaded go to the options and change the resolution to something sensible and click 'Apply'.
8) Exit Gary's Mod.
9) Right-click Gary's Mod and choose 'Properties'.
10) Click 'Set launch options...'.
11) Delete everything in the box and click 'Ok'.
12) Click 'Close' on the properties window.
It didn't work.
As said before the shortcut resolution thing has never worked for me ever.
If you suspect i did something wrong with spacing, then please give me an example of how it should look like.
Or preferably tell me how to make launch settings work, i couldn't find anything on google mainly because i don't know what to look for.
Sorry for being a pain-in-the-ass.
I can't really write it any simpler than I already have. Only other thing I can suggest is putting a -dxlevel 80 into the launch options as well, so it reads...
-dxlevel 80 -width 640 -height 480
If that doesn't help I suggest you find some general Steam forums or forums for Gary's Mod and post there.
The launch option tweak has NEVER worked for ANY program, and i have absolutely no idea why...
Apparently the Awesmoe Gmod Specialists (AGS) community is dumbfounded. Rumour has it that some members consider becoming girl scouts and make adventure games, the likes of which have not been seen yet.

Thanks, this was extremely helpful.
Off the top of my head, since I have no experience with GMOD, and you say you may have set it to a resolution that your monitor can't handle (or, indeed, a refresh rate your monitor can't handle), is there no .ini or .cfg file which contains the settings and which you could delete?
Like in Steam>Steamapps>(username)>Garry's Mod?

You don't seem to be following the advice though.

How do you tell?
I solved the problem :D
I used my Wacom Tablet for precision, and somehow changed the video settings without seeing anything.
-autoconfig usually helps.
Even better, go into your gMod folder in Steam and delete the config file?
- Huw
I usually try un/reinstalling when things like this happen.

-autoconfig does not work. -window also does not. None of these commands work, for ANY program.

Really? Hm. As an example, I have a link to Half-Life dev mode in my quicklaunch.
When I right-click it and choose Properties, under 'Target' I have "C:\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -dev" (sans quotes).
When you try to use these commands, are you sure you're adding them to 'Target' not 'Start In' or whatever?
If command-line options absolutely won't work, then something is wrong... try running a virus check or whatever, or post in a dedicated troubleshooting forum, 'cause it's important to be able to use commandline options, on any system.
Couldn't be a virus. Wasn't working before i even got connected to the internet...
I think the only one that worked was dev... for Halo CE...
Maybe it's just game-specific?
