On December 3rd, 2005 at about 10:00 AM Tokyo Standard Time, I became a Daddy.
My wife, who I thought was just getting fat, was actually pregnant!!! Imagine my surprise! I had to apologize for a lot of comments I had made to her. "What did you eat, a watermelon?!?!?" Boy is my face red!
Anyways, it was a long process. Her water broke at 11:30 PM, which is the optimal time for your water to break to ensure that you get the minimum amount of sleep for the maximum amount of time. The birth was a relatively painless process. I didn't feel a thing. It was just a bit annoying that my wife kept screaming! For the entire ten hours!!!! I mean, come on! It can't be that bad!
Just to humor me, my wife Kumi pretended like she was a character in a movie when the birthing mother grabs the dad and screams, "I hate you! You did this to me!!!!" She's so funny! Though she's taking the joke a bit to far now by not talking to me for two days...
After we started talking again, we agreed that I could choose the middle name, so I present to you:
Emi Robocop Twelve

I quickly set up this little photo album, so you can check out the pictures as I put them up:

Best wishes! Cheers for a long, happy and healthy life of the newborn! :)
Congratulations! :)
Robocop? No. Way.
Heh....You have a cute kid there man, congrats.
Hm, they have PAMPERS there in Japan, what do you know... (<-The dippers, Farlander!)
Well. Congratulations man! Emi's so cute! Cuter than mine! :'(
And your wife looks lovely.
Best wishes for the best life ever for your family and if you wish it I hope you get a second one so they can play/fight together!
Well done! The AGS fatherhood is expanding!
Excellent!
Congrats!
Haha your post was quite hillarious :) Congratulations!
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/zoidberg.gif)Congratulations, Meester. President! But seriously, congratulations and good luck!!
Aww, congrats Vince. :)
Awww! I just love these threads about people becoming parents! All the best!! Excellent middle name! ;D
Congratulations. I hope you've been sleeping lots for the past 3 years, as it will be at least that long before you sleep well again. Bwuhahahazzzzzzzzzz
OH MY GOD VINCE! O_O
I've been waiting for this thread, man! HUGE congrats to you and your wife ^_^ Baby = so cute!!
You actually picked my -favourite- Japanese name too (not Robocop), Emi! I still can't believe what a cool last name you have. I'm gonna give it to a character in my next game, okay?
We totally have to meet up at some point now, if only so I can see your little baby ^_^
Thanks everybody, I just got home from the hospital. Emi's cuter every day!
Obviously a lot of stuff in my post was less than serious, I was quite tired when I posted it. Her real middle name is Debra, which is my mother's name. I would never actually name a baby Robocop. That name is more for earlobe cysts or black cats.
For those who care, Emi is 3050 grams (6 pounds 11 ounces) and 50 cm (20 inches) long. She has very long medium brown hair and her eyes are currently a really deep blue grey.
She's nursing like a champ and she's very calm. As long as she's being held, she's happy. She's just perfect.
And Kinoko, if you ever decide to come down to lounge on a beautiful Okinawan beach, you'll have to let me know. Or I may be in Shizuoka some time to show the baby off to family members, in which case, I'll let you know.
I'll post day three's photos up to the site tomorrow. Now, we're off to bed!
Congrats! :D
Yay! The top photo is just precious!
Yes, get Emi into AGS soon! Pop a little AGS manual into their lickle armsy warmsies! :D
Congratulations! The baby looks lovely, a really cute trouble-to-be... ;)
and I hope she'll catch up with the AGS manual soon :P
Now serious, there are so many parents in here...
I use threads like this to show people around me that gamers do have a life away from their keyboard.
I think that we should have a Mittens kind of meeting for parents with their families. You know book a hotel floor and have all the AGSers in there for a week or something. So the wifes could keep an eye on the family and the men would be free to hang together and get drunk all the time!
Well, I think it's a good idea!
And Vince you know what SSH said about peace and quiet is true except for one thing gone right/wrong (depends on how you feel). Wait 'till you get a second baby ->Another three years of sleepless nights! hehe
I have three kids, I rule you all in lack of sleep/personal time/sanity breaks....
So THAT'S why the "Twelve Interviews" stopped! You were waiting on the stork. It all makes sense now!
Congrats on the baby. Cute as a button! Spoil the hell out of her while you can cause she'll be a surly teenager before you know it!

Thanks everybody! Everything is still going very well. She's very healthy and happy.
My site is going to be down for just a little bit, but the pictures will come back up soon!
Edit: Got it all fixed up. If you care, you can see the Day 3 pictures on the site!

Nikolas, I hope you're kidding. Don't make me hit you.
Of course I'm kidding! God! I'm only kidding! For the drinking part. Cause otherwise I don't see why shouldn't we family men/women also be able to meet...
Vince: Been viewing the gallery. She looks SO much like her mum! Like, the EXACT same nose. It's so odd... I know people say babies have their parents' features but it's amazing to see when you really can recognise it.
YES! The EXACT same nose! It's funny, all the non-Japanese people think she looks like her mom, and all the Japanese people think she looks just like me.
Just had another fun day. She can follow voices and turn her head to investigate sounds. She is just so calm and nice. She only cries when we're changing her diaper. She hates the cold wipes, we need to heat those things.
And Nikolas, we should totally have that get together. The women could watch the babies and massage our feet and feed us food whilst fanning us with palm leaves. We'll sip some beers and chat about how easy babies are and how much we hate it when people use the word "whilst"... good times...

Dude, You just sold me. Sign me up. I would just prefer the gals wash their hands after rubbing our feet, if there going to be feeding us and all....
Now to discuss this with my wife, I'm sure it will go well....
