I know my last idea for a comp kind failed. But now I present you with something new. A voice acting comp. For those of us with mics that want to show of our vocal talents. It'd be like Story Comp but with each person developing a monologue or conversation based on the theme presented by the previous months winner. Anyone interested?
Take it one step further. Don't make the contestants come up with their own material on top of having to voice-act: GIVE them material, or at least materialS to choose from. And why not take that material from the story comp itself, past and present?
Mmm... I don't think the monologue would work, but something like sprite jam could. I.E. "Act ike an old drunk pirate complaining for how delayed is his grog, 1/2 minute of speech"
I think it could be funny and it explores something we haven't tested in comp & activities.
My vote goes for "go for it".
Sounds like "Just a Minute"... do we get to buzz in if they hesitate, deviate or repeat themselves?
Thats a good idea Farlander. I think that would work quite well.
Yes, if a script was given i think this would be a great idea! Its got my vote!
This sounds like a good idea for competition in one of the few areas competitions don't provide practice for. Unlike many of the rest, it shouldn't be difficult for the initiator to come up with dialogue ideas: just yank something from an existing non-voice game or their own. Looking forward to its starting (if it does) - should be good for a laugh and potential talent-recruitment pool.
Let the games commence!
This compo could work! Well, it's worth to try anyway don't you think? :=
Gets my vote!
This is a great idea, I'm not a good voice actor at all but I might join for fun if I ever find the theme interesting
I think it'd be a great idea, especially for practising our voice over talents.
Sounds like fun. Gets my vote.
Good idea, approved.
You wanna start it, Cameron, or should I take it away (in case you wanna participate yourself)?
Heh. If voting is public, he can participate himself even if he starts the thread. ::)
But wouldn't that be... unethical?
Why unethical? He had the idea to start the comp, 's all. The only advantage he has is in picking a theme, and I speak from experience in saying that that does not really mean anything - when I picked the team for the last story comp I didn't even know I WAS going to enter, but later on the idea just came.
Besides, if people feel he's taking advantage of something they can always vote for someone else.

I am game for this!
