Post by: Bluke4x4 on Sun 01/06/2003 19:05:25
This topic is all Weird Al, most of the time. Whoohoo! I want a new duck...

My father in law copied some damned concert on DVD for me.  It was fairly amusing.  He laughed when he was supposed to laugh and smiled when he was supposed to smile but he didn't seem to be enjoying himself.  I think after 20-odd years of doing this, his heart's not in it anymore.  The best part of the DVD is the public service announcements. (50's style infomercial things with umm.. "different" commentary)

I think so. I loved it when I was in 5th or 6th grade...I still have a few CDs, and I saw him in concert...but I think I grew out of it now...it just isnt as funny

Yeah, his new album (Poodle Hat) is lotsa fun. Although his best was the previous CD, Running With Scissors.

I just like the video to 'Im Fat' and his older ones like that (Just eat it, the night santa went crazy) etc.

I liked him when I was younger (not that I'm particularly old now), but I'm kind of over him.  His material annoys me now more than it does provide enjoyment.  He's good for laughs and so forth, but it starts to get to me pretty quickly.  As a person, though, he seems like a great guy.

Say, Hotshot,  The night santa went crazy wasn't THAT long ago... it was on the Bad Hair Day album, right before Running With Scissors.

Just bought "Poodle Hat" and it's great!  It has a section where Al shows you his home movies.  I couldn't stop laughing the whole time!

You heard Al's Nirvana spoof from ages ago? That one's funny, the video's cool - the way it pretty much rips apart every scene from the original.

Nah, thats the only song i've heard of him. That and 'Eat It'. Didnt he get in trouble for doing a coolio song or something?

Actually, "Amish Paradise" did make fun of Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise", but Weird Al DID ask for permission. Well actually, his agent (or something like that) did, and Coolio said no, but that agent guy (or something like that) told Weird Al he said yes.

How about people post their favorite Weird Al songs here?

Like mine's Generic Blues.

A reminder, a new AL-TV will be airing tonight at 11 PM Eastern on VH1.
"Be there!!"

OK, it just ended. To those who didn't catch it, I pity you. It was the funniest fricking thing I've seen in a LONG time.

Bah bah bah, I don't receive VH1 anymore. Our cable company replaced it with some damned Tel-sell shopping channel.

Anyway, I only enjoy his songs when I'm in a 'Weird Al' mood. Sometimes when I'm tired these polka songs of his really get me going again. I'm weird.
