Anything good?

After the fun of playing Resistance at Mittens, I put it on my wishlist, and sure enough! Had an epic session playing it with friends and family on boxing day. (Sorry sis, guess you're not able to spot traitors by our "micro-expressions" after all! :-D)

Plus new cross-country ski boots and a highly appreciated jacket. No books for me this year, unusually, but I accidentally ordered two copies of Alice Munro's Hateship..., so I'm keeping one for myself. Hey, it's been a nice Christmas!

(Depending on how this thread goes, it might end up in the Rumpus Room instead.)

I got a book I was really looking forward to, Raising Steam by Terry Pratchett. And Warehouse 13 Season 3. Nice stuff (nod)

I got a pair of trousers and a nice shirt from my sisters and some much-appreciated money from my mum. But the best present will come when I see my girlfriend in a few days :) She claims to have knitted me a scarf <3

Warning - bitchiness ahead: I got an Xmas bonus at work (I've been in an apprentice type of position for the past 6 months, I still don't know if they'll keep me after that expires, so I get 1/2 of average pay), it was a nice boost to my funds and thus I treated myself to an xbox controller for pc (and apparently there's no wireless ones to even order because the general importer for the whole country is not selling them right now, wth?).

For "actual" gifts I got a thermos so I can bring tea from home (ou yeah I got a cold and a rather bad cough so it'll actually come in handy) and also loneliness, I got plenty of that this year as well :( ...I think it might be because I bitch a lot, but then again, I don't really have a lot of people to bitch to...weird*bitchiness over*

I am actually glad (not being sarcastic) when I read stuff like this where other people find things fun, so there's at least that.

I got World Peace!

...

No, wait...

Edit: Okay, I've checked. I got a hat, a book, a manly scent, and a moving picture of the comedic variety on Digital Versatile Disc, or "DVD".

So no world peace.

But I smell pretty good.

I got a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0.  I have started downloading various Android adventure games, since I now have an appropriate device on which to comfortably play them (as opposed to the tiny 4" screen of my phone).  Currently enjoying the extra intro to Broken Sword 1 Director's Cut.

Oh, and various books, pants and socks, DVDs.  Usual Christmas stuffs.

I got gasses as well.
I had a very warm bathrobe that became my best friend (I also got a cold), a cool Vans wallet, small but very stylish and it's leather. Those were Santa's gifts.
Because I'm greedy I bought myself a drawing tablet and a Fujifilm camera that I'm practising on everything that moves on the house!
Working on a RON game!!!!!

I got two PS4 games from my wife, nice manly scent from parents, lots of sweets, some wine, and two books - one I was looking forward to read (Stephen King's Doctor Sleep) and the other one a great surprise from my little brother (a collection of Conan stories by Robert Howard).

cat

I got a hand-crocheted loop scarf from my sister and two J-Rock CDs from my boyfriend.

Which CDs are they?  I like a bit of J-Rock.  Not the Visual Kei stuff though.

You seem quite upset, Anian... :-\

My family finally agreed not to exchange gifts, which was the best decision ever. Only me and my girlfriend bought presents to each other, and we also bought a toy for my niece, aged 1 (soon).
We ended up spending money on food and beverages instead, which felt much better.

From Aldious, we saw them in Tokyo in October but only bought one CD back then.

From my gf I got Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, for the 3DS. I absolutely loved Link's Awakening on the gameboy while growing up, so I was quite nostalgic to see the same world being mostly copied into this game. I started to wonder if the game would be able to hold my attention as well as the game I grew up with, then suddenly Link gains the power to merge into walls as a painting to avoid enemies or obstacles or get to ledges; It's actually an amazing game concept.

If you like this game mechanics there's an entire game based around this concept called "Contrast". You merge into walls as a shadow.

Ahh, I've not heard of them.  I tend to stick to a few of the more indie/alternative bands, Ogre You Asshole being one of my favourites.

I hope this depression passes soon. We need you back at the Critics' Lounge.
