I was just thinking about peoples weird little things they do when thay are nervous or stressed out....I've seen a lot of different little nervous habits and I was just wondering about any you guys might have, just for the hell of it.....
I have the worst I think, when I get nervous my eyes get red and watery....serious, which dosen't really help when your stressed out in the first place...I also rub the side of my nose, because that seems to help with the whole eye watery thing.....
Anbody got any others?
Yes, I am bored....
I used to pull the skin on my neck, but now I have a thing for spinning the antena on my cell phone.
On the middle of your ring finger, there's that skin, you know? I used to bite that.
I stomp my leg. And look around constantly.
I laugh....a lot.
It's hell in arguments with my wife. :-[
It doesn't happen when I'm nervous, but for whatever reason when I'm stressed or frustrated, my nose gets really itchy. I've had to pause video games before because my nose was driving me crazy.
Whenever I had an exam that I really cared about, I got a stomach ache. It REALLY bothered me during the exam, but once the exam finished, my stomach ache magically disappeared.
When I'm nervous I'll run in circles, when I stop I'll lick my body clean...
...Wait! That's my cat...
When I'm nervous I just pretend that I'm not nervous.

I have the same reaction when I have an exam, but mine desappears at the first 5-10 minutes of exam.
When I'm nervous I jump on my feet, start running in circles, but mostly jump.

That always happens when I'm playing counterstrike (for some reason, I don't know?). I always end up getting killed because of it.
I fiddle with my beard for some reason.
i don't really get nervous, but sometimes i have sudden anxiety packs and during them i get really hungry, they usually go after i've eaten like 4 slices of toast, beans, a few packets of crisps and a bowl of cereal.
not had one of those for a long time though.
In my opinion, there are three ways to afford the problems...
a) The problem is such difficult that it can't be solved, no matter if you're nervous or not.
b) The problem is difficult, but it can be solved if you're not nervous.
c) The problem is such easy that you can solve it easily, no matter if you'r enervous or not.
So... if you are nervous the probability to succed is 33,3%... if you're not it's 66,6%. With such philosophy, I manage quite well with the nerves.
But well... playing with the pen and making a silly joke before the exams is a classic, I think.... :)
I either chew my beard (yes, it's long enough) or play around with pens. Since I'm a bit clumsy, I end up throwing those pens everywhere...
Also, due to the large amount of coffee I drink I'm always somewhat nervous.
My fingers are just messing around by themselves, most likely rotating whatever I'm holding again and again. Or they beat on the desk or anything nearby. Or sometimes they mess with my goatee.
I get shaky hands. My hands shake when I'm tired, too. It gets fairly bad. When I'm playing poker my hands will shake if I'm nervous about a hand, but luckily it isn't a tell, because I'm either nervous cause I'm bluffing like hell, or I have a really great hand and am nervous that someone has one better. I can't use notes when making a speech, though, because my hands shake too much for me to hold something and read it. My voice remains strong, though. So as long as I have a podium to hide my hands, no one could tell how nervous I am.
I also get that feeling in my stomach before an exam, and it quickly goes away once I get it. During an exam or a cramming section, I will run my hands through my hair.

Before I go on stage, I usually get quite antsy. I have to move as much as possible, or else I actually start shaking. I end up going off by myself somewhere and flailing about, or if I have music, I'll dance. If I don't get that chance to move around, I end up crying. I can't help it.
I don't usually get nervous before exams or anything else, though. Just performing. And I want to be an actor? Sometimes my brain confuses me.
Mills, I'm in the same boat as you. I shake like there's no tomorrow. Except it's not just my hands that shake, usually it's a whole side of my body.
For example, this year, I was asked to play Last Post on my trumpet at my Rememberance Day (Veteren's Day for those in the US) ceremony in front of the whole school.
Now, I don't know about you, but playing Last Post in front of WWII veterans and 1,200 students, with all of their eyes on you, and the whole place silent... That's pretty hard. Not to mention the trumpet is an instrument which requires a strong mouth position. And with one whole side of my face not able to stand still, it makes playing HARD.
Stupid shakyness.
cry
Piss ma pants. lol
I play trumpet to
Well, if it's nervous as in "anxious" or "afraid", I tend to stutter and scratch myself a lot. HARD.
If I'm VERY nervous, I shake all over, instead.
If it's nervous as in "angry", I get all red inside. I try and keep a lid on it, but my fists WILL clench and I have the urge to hit SOMETHING real hard, even if it's just my head against the nearest wall.
Argghhh... I hate it when I get embarrassed or angry. My ears turn a very noticeable dark red shade. I have no way to control it either, and someone ALWAYS comments on it.
I don't really have any nervous habits, but when I am nervous/scared I get cotton mouth like nobody's business. Living in a place in constant need of hydration I usually have a water bottle not too far so it isn't that big of a problem.
I get diarrhoea.
If I have enough time, that is.
Another thing I do when I get nervous are push-ups.
I'm not very strong, so I do series of 15. But on nervous times I can amount to 45 push-ups a day!
After the push-ups I get calm instantly and at least I have some advantage from a stresfull situation.
If my life continues to be shitty, I'll look like Arnold Schwarzenegger in no time.
When i get nervous and i am at home, i try to do things that will occupy my mind and not let me think about being nervous.
I really enjoy playing my console games when i get nervous. For some reason just sitting down and playing games really calms me down, plus i have alot of fun doing it.
I've noticed that by playing the Sims on PC or Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 that my nervousness totally goes away.
Without these, i become sort of shakey and start to sweat. Which i do not like.
I try not to get nervous about things, but sometimes I can't avoid it.
When I'm thinking too hard about something: I bite my lip, bite my nails, rub my eyes, fiddle with my hair, or scratch my head.
When I'm particularly nervous: (like when I had an exam this afternoon) I tend to get stomach pains, and feel a bit nauseous. I tend to get a few nervous twitches as well, like my knee jiggling or something.
In extreme situations: I have full-blown panic attacks, where I hyperventilate and shake uncontrollably.
Is it really any wonder that I try to avoid stressful situations?
when I get nervous...and I mean really nervous and embarrassed (which is a huge rarity) I break out into hives and itch uncontrollably. that only really happens when I have to do something that I honestly think I can't do...ever
I used to grind my teeth (which is bad, so I tried to overcome it, but it still happens sometimes) and I used to play with the ring on my finger (but not anymore, because I''m not wearing it anymore). These days I mostly walk up and down.
I just laugh. laugh a lot. Mostly at jokes which aren't funny at all. And I laugh even more when I've accomplished what I was nervous for. I'm just an optimistic person reallyÃ, :=.

I talk. Alot.
Or if we're talking "silent nervous", I crack my fingers. Hah!

Heh, I read that before you fixed it....Good times...
As far as pre-performance jitters, I've ussaully been able to get over it alright. With my band it was easy to handle the stress of it because we played in dark black lighted rooms and played really loud music, so you really didn't notice the people till the song was over.
Crack my fingers.
I used to chew my beard but now I have no beard (not due to excess chewing mind you)
When I was in my teens and I was kissing some girl I really liked - I'd get the burps - cassanova move over.
When I'm not paying paying attention, I chew my shirt.
I used to flap my arms up and down when I was excited. (People have often made jokes about me flying away...)
As for nervous, I have no clue what I do when I'm nervous. Huh.
It doesn't sound like the smart thing, but i play with my knife wich i ALWAYS have with me...yes, even at school
I smoke. Simple as that.
I also wander aimlessly i guess.
Yep ,
If nervous as in anxious then im likely to get smoke cravings, or I play around smooching some neary by blue tak, if none is around maybe some leg tapping..
if nervous as in afraid, i do tend to laugh , which doesnt really tend to help in certain situations...
in uncontrollably panic attack nervous sitiation , of which i have only ever had 1 in my life, i could not stop my leg from shaking, I suddenly became aware of it and ith started amplifying shaking my whole left side more and i had to shift my body weight to calm it down.. maybe kind of when people get shaky hands and they cant control it, or suddenly realising you have chattery teeth getting worse and worse, it was like that and was very freaky.
drink.........................................a lot.
