Did something bad happen to the forums? I had to re-log in, and input my password twice because of upgraded security. Also, the bar that displays how many messages I have is completely black, with blue writing. No search bar, or anything, just login and logout.
I was just wondering if something bad did happen, I mean the forums being such a great place an all, I wouldn't like to see something bad happen to it. :)
Same here. does thought I'd mention it...
There was an update today.
Seems a bit like a downdate. "Hey, esper, you have 10 messages, and 1 of them is new" has been changed to "10 messages," unless I highlight the black box. And I never had a search bar.
They might fix it in a while.
The forums were upgraded to the latest version of the forum software this afternoon, so do let me know if you have any problems.

This seemed fine to me in IE, but I just tried it in Firefox and got the black bar problem; it should now be fixed.
It seems to be incompatible with FireFox.
I switched to IE rendering with IETab and it looks fine.
[EDIT] Thanks for making me look stupid, CJ!

Did the same thing for me BEFORE I logged in ... once logged in, it works fine now.

Well, my Internet Explorer can't login to the forums, for some reason. It keeps giving me an error whenever I try. Firefox works fine for me, and the black box is gone.
I had the black box thing, but it's sorted now.
Is anyone else finding the forums very slow since the update? I've had a couple of time-outs moving between threads, and wondered if it was that (since it's not noticable visiting other sites), or just my connection playing silly buggers.
EDIT: I also get Steve's search error.
EDIT2:
Seems like it might just be my connection - it's spread to other sites now, but AGS is still the worst hit (haven't even been able to open the forums to post this for a few hours). Which is a bit of a shame.
I don't have a slowdown, but I do get a database error the first time I try to search for something new. A second search for the same thing returns no results, even for something that I know should return results.
Well spotted, the search should be fixed now.
As for slowdowns, if anything I've found it faster than before. If anyone else is having speed problems please do let us know.
Everything seems to be working fine. I also find things that bit faster! \o/
Usually, in Firefox anyway, I'd get "Looking up..." in the status thingy at the bottom of the window, and about 10 - 20 seconds later the forums would load.
Doesn't seem to happen now.
EDIT: Oooh! Just noticed the little widget for making changes to a post. Dinky. :)
Wierd, even though I'm still logged in i keep getting pages with "guest" still there, but then I click on a board or a post and it says i'm logged in again.
I've also noticed it seems a bit slower than before.
Everything here seems to be working great in FF, except i got frisked by a bouncer before entering. :)
edit: I have noticed at the bottom of the forums, there is 2 login areas. They both appear in IE and FF.

That's happened to me in the past. Try logging in and out a few times. It should be fixed for good once you do that.
Whew, glad that its fixed!
If you don't mind me asking what was updated for the forums?
SMF (the software the forums use) was updated to the latest version. Changelog is here (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?PHPSESSID=c779ea6555c1a243385dfef864bd4ae0opic=149553.0).
I think we were running a pre-1.1 version before though, so all this stuff (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?board=40.0;sort=subject) might be new for us.
Another problem- I've tried going back and viewing old pages of threads and there is some sort of 'database error'. :/

I have the same bt only in the competitions board.
Clicking on the "new" button no longer takes me to the last post. Instead, it takes me to the first post. Quite the inconvenience, and it defeats the whole purpose of having a "new" button.
The "new" thing is a button?
I had no idea! Just took it as a notification. Seriously!
Yes, it always is.

Yeah, we were running 1.0.9 before, but most of the changes in 1.1 are around easier administration, so in terms of everyday usage of the forums you'll probably just notice the following:
* inline editing of messages
* ability to label and search PM's
* ability to report dodgy PM's to the moderators

Thanks for reporting this, it seemed to only affect the C&A forum and should now be fixed.

Ok, I think I've fixed this now. Please let me know if you're still having issues.

I had that problem too, and it appears to be fixed. Hooray!
Fixed. Thanks muchly!
Another problem, that I might be imagining...
The red 'while you were typing' warning that says new messages have been posted - didn't that previosuly show the new messages, so you could tell if you had to edit yours? If so, it doesn't anymore - bug? If not I must be thinking of another forum, but it's a nice feature to have.
EDIT:
OK, nevermind. It works again. Did it get resolved, or was I imagining it?
Don't know if it did, but the new post should always be there to be seen, just under, without pressing the link, at least so I've had it.
Sorry to dig this up again, but seems that there're some changes in the use of tags since the update.
For example the colour tags in this sticky (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=1987.0) are now messed up.
I also noticed that the order of the tags is now more restrictive, for example in the Hall of Fame (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=22522.0) thread, the GRAND SLAM WINNERS heading was messed up, which I later fixed by reordering the tags (the [center] tags must be in the outmost level).
I'd like to know if it's just something messed up, or a change in post formating rules for newer version of software.
This won't affect many people anyway, mainly moderators, as combination of text style tags are used mostly in forum rule locked stickies.
A minor difference, but I just noticed that under moderator's name it now displays "moderator member" instead of "moderator" as it used to be.
I'm not sure which one is more appropriate, just to mention the difference.
Well these are two things, that means he's a "moderator" and a "member".
Seems that in the past it was set that if he's a moderator the "member" status was not displayed.
Now, even CJ is listed as both "Administrator" and "member".
I'm pretty sure it's always said Member for moderators. I remember this because I had 4 lines of text under my username and above my avatar.

Yep fair, so maybe the new way is even better. Again I just mentioned the change.
QuoteSeems that in the past it was set that if he's a moderator the "member" status was not displayed.
Yeah, if you are a moderator on specific board, you got "member" (as well as any other mittens-related titles, and I think that issue was discussed before) replaced by "moderator".
QuoteNow, even CJ is listed as both "Administrator" and "member".
I think that always was this way, since it works globally.

Yeah, and it's my guess global moderators' titles remain the same across all boards.
Anyway here is a google's cached page (http://66.102.9.104/search?q=cache:P_E9cRg6jQoJ:americangirlscouts.org/bbc.com/yabb/index.php%3Ftopic%3D11868+Scorpiorus+queued+talking&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1), as an example.
Another thing I noticed, I usually use the Quick Reply function. When I reply with a quote, a green 'Replying With Quote...' appears at the top of the screen. Very strange...
