Need mouse and scanner suggestion

I'm thinking of buying an optical mouse and a scanner?
Any suggestion?

I use a Microsoft Wheelmouse Optical, and I've had it for more than a year now without any problems. The way it never needs cleaning (so never loses tracking quality) makes it well worth getting one...

Mouse, Logitech MX700, hands down.  Precise, responsive, feels good in the hand. Comes with handy recharge cradle.    I've used a friend's MX700 for awhile now and need to pick one up for myself.  I just can't see spending $60 on a new mouse when my corded Intellimouse Optical is still going strong since '99.  

If you've got a tight budget, then I'd say go for any optical mouse that feels good in the hand and isn't overly heavy.  Check out specific reviews for cordless mice so that you can find out about potential battery-longevity issues, etc.  However, a standard optical, corded wheel-mouse of almost any make is a great step up over a ball-mouse.  I'm using a $9 CompUSA brand mouse and it feels nearly as good as my $45 (at the time) MS mouse.

Evil, unresponsive thing that jerks halfway across the screen every five minutes (which is particulary annoying if you're drawing something in PSP) and drains batteries like a thing that drains batteries a lot.

I third that, steer clear of coordless mice. Coordless keyboards aren't too bad however, shame they only sell them together with coordless mice which makes them too expensive for my budget.

I've got a coorded optical Microsoft Intellimouse (Version 3 I belive, not sure how they write it) and am very satisfied.
