Title: What Kind of Poster Are You?
Post by: R4L on Mon 07/08/2006 19:27:32
Thats the question. I have made up various types of posters. I myself am a Cautious Poster.Ã,  :D

1) Cautious Poster- You take 4 to 5 minutes to post a reply regarding a topic. After posting, you go back to proofread and make sure things make sense, without typing too much. This causes you to hit the modify button many times to ensure someone understands you or doesn't get at you the wrong way. You post in all areas but more frequently than others.

2) Fast poster- You have little to no time in posting a reply to anything. You constantly make errors in spelling and grammer, but try your best to help others. You stay away from long threads where someone has posted alot of text, and you don't type too much either. The forums you visit don't see you often, but you swing by every now and then.

3) Hardass Poster- You are egotistical, and can be cool sometimes. Other times, you are an ass, getting your point across through witty and sarcastic remarks. You don't really start too many topics, but you invade others and like to cause trouble sometimes. You don't care how your wording is and you don't take anything from anybody. You can be helpful sometimes, but most of the time, you make things worse.

4) Comical Poster- You are very witty, making people laugh at your posts. You post in most areas and have many friends who enjoy your posts as well. You explain how to help someone using easy and laughable comments. You cheer people up but you don't really start too many threads.

5) Serious Poster- You aren't here to play around. You hardly crack jokes at all. You vigorously look for helpful text in your threads, and you try to help others. You can't stand people who post information that isn't helpful, and you live life to the fullest. You tend to hang around the General area, replying to religious and political threads. You have made many contributions to the forum, and many people respect you.

6) Late Poster- You tend to live life slower than others, maybe too slow. You always reply to someone's post too late. Although you offer helpful information, someone beats you to it almost everytime. You tend to get on late at night or really early in the morning.
You have friends but you can never catch them on as late as you are on. You take your time with projects and posts, making sure you offer as much help, or bring all that you have to the table.

Just something I made up for fun. Sorry if this isn't allowed although I am sure it is...

7) monkey_05_06 poster - After posting, you go back to proofread and make sure things make sense. This causes you to hit the modify button many times to ensure someone understands you or doesn't get at you the wrong way. You post in areas more frequently than others. You have little to no time in posting a reply to anything. You try your best to help others. You are egotistical, and can be cool sometimes. Other times, you are an ass, getting your point across through witty and sarcastic remarks. You really start too many topics, and you invade others and like to cause trouble sometimes. You can be helpful sometimes. You are witty, making people laugh at your posts (sometimes). You vigorously look for helpful text in your threads, and you try to help others. You can't stand people who post information that isn't helpful, and you live life to the fullest. You tend to hang around the Tech area, replying to lots of threads. You have made some contributions to the forum, and a few people respect you. You always reply to someone's post too late (beaten by: SSH, Ashen, etc.). Although you offer helpful information, someone beats you to it almost everytime. You tend to get on late at night or really early in the morning. You have friends but you can almost never catch them on as late as you are on. You take your time with projects and posts, making sure you offer as much help, or bring all that you have to the table.

8)ManicMatt poster: You proof read everything you've posted, but don't always correct it. You also like reading what you just wrote because you like reading what you write. You have a few friends on here (Vict0r, Nikolas, nine toes whatever he's called on here, Spleen maybe) and also a few enemies. (Helm being your nemesis. Oh how he haunts you!)

You also like to make an ass of yourself at your own expense just to get a laugh.

Does a thread not interest you? I have a revolutionary new idea for you, Hammerite: Don't post in it!

It works for me!

What are you saying! The internet exists so we can be selectively detached and cool about not caring!!

I'd say quite a few people here are number 3 (like Hammerite).Ã,

9) Yodaman poster: You vigorously look for helpful text in your threads, and you try to help others. You can't stand people who post information that isn't helpful, and you live life to the fullest. You tend to hang around the General area, replying to religious and political threads. You have a few friends on here (including Raggit and lo_res_man, among others), and people tend to ignore anything to do with the game you are making. You aren't afraid to speak out your religion- even if it gets mocked to death.Ã,

F). Me.

Usually posts to chastise stupid threads before they get locked.Ã,  Insulting as many people as possibly along the way for their stupidity.Ã,  Is as awkward as possible.Ã,  Hopefully doing it in a witty, yet cynical way but mostly not.Ã,  More often than not, posting whilst inebriated, since the forums are too full with f*cktards when sober.Ã,  Rarely visits the forums, but when does, posts in a handful of threads in a short time.Ã,  Modifies mostly for spellchecking purposes, so as not to look as stupid as the majority.

To said f*cktards:

Get bent.

I'd say "you know who you are", but in all honesty, you probably don't.Ã,  You don't have the sense to realise you've started an inane thread, and that your stupidity is disliked by many.Ã,  Get a sodding clue, you halfwitted buffoons.Ã,  You're not witty.Ã,  You're not clever.Ã,  On the most part, you're not even liked.

That's why a prefer the IRC channel.Ã,  We can ban the dumb asses.

PI) Off-topic poster, the kind of guy (usually) who figures that since we know about adventure games, we'd also know about fixing his car, where to buy ice cream in Oklahoma, or where to find people interested in Pokemon. I rather like the reli/polit/philo discussions we get at times and that's not what I mean; there's just some people that seriously ask for advice on anything from anybody.

E) Ideaful noob. Happens a lot here. "Hey, I've got this great idea for a game but I won't tell you since it's a sekrit! Now I need somebody to do graphics and music for me but it will be t3h gr34test game!"

I'm an 'in my own world' kind of poster, I read a lot of posts and rarely post these days. I have no idea if a lot of people even know who I am, but because I read threads that interest me, I feel I know people that probably don't know me. I make random posts in topics that I feel like posting in, sometimes try to be witty, sometimes I give helpful information, I've had a post deleted when I've been drunk. I stay away from pointless religious threads, occasionally post in political threads but stay away from them most of the time too. I rarely start topics, usually just try to find a similar one to slot it in. Just like in real life, I try to stay out of the mainstream here too.

I suppose you can try and categorise posters, but most will just be a combination of whatever categories you come up with.

10) Flibble poster.

Writes a post, rereads it, then deletes it without bothering to click Post because it wasn't that good.

10) JJk poster- You have little time in posting a reply. You stay away from long threads where someone has posted alot of text, and you don't type too much either. The forums you visit don't see you often, but you swing by every now and then. Any topic that does interest you has already been disscussed and anything you would have to say, somebody else has already said first. This sacres you away from the forums.

11) My Posts - Post once in a month, just to say "nice game", or "wow" or "I like spanking in teh morning", with the exception of when I'm programming my ags game, then I flood the beginners forum with dumb codes that dont work because of punctuation, or brackets, or something, then log in every 10 min just to see a answer, and when someone answer, its Ashen flaming me for being stoopid.
