Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place cause I didn't know if it should go in with the competition threads or someplace else but I was wondering if I its o.k. to look at a locked thread as long as I don't post reply or do anything that might be considered editing it because I was told by someone that I might find something useful for my game in the competition threads and I noticed most the threads were locked so I wanted to know if its o.k. to look at a locked thread.

It's super fine to look at locked threads, have a blast!

Yeah, locked threads are all for viewing, otherwise they'll be deleted for good.

EldKatt

As always, though, don't use stuff without permission. Scavenging competition threads for backgrounds, sprites or music and actually using it in your game is not okay. At least not with anything I've ever submitted (so disobey and face my wrath). Finding inspiration or headhunting artists is a different matter.

All you CAN do with locked threads is read them, it's not possible to post new replies to them - that's kind of what locking them means. As Gilbot said, if you weren't supposed to read them, they'd be deleted.

If this is related to your post about a 'battle mode', you're probably most interested in the Coding Contest. All entires from all contests have been compiled in the Wiki, which might be easier for you than searching the forums. Coding Contest entries are free to use, edit and genenerally mess around with - that was always one of the rules - but like EldKatt said, anything else (music, BGs, sprites) should probably be considered 'for inspiration only'. Also, keep in mind that some of the entries might not work with your version of AGS (depending on what it is), without a bit of fiddling.
I know what you're thinking ... Don't think that.
