This is pretty weird (and stupid :P )
I got on the computer, and I saw that my quick-launch bar is basically covering up my entire taskbar. So I can't see the little buttons that show my active windows at all, and I need to do Alt-Tab to switch all my tasks.\\

See, that's my quick launch bar, and it's covering up all the buttons that show all the programs I'm running.
I probably can live without is being fixed, but it's really annoying. I tried resizing it and everything, but it would work. I've basically tried everything I can. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

You should just have to click the dot bar and drag it to the side.
You may need to right click on the taskbar and "unlock" it first.
I thought the dot bar indicated it was already unlocked. No?

You are correct, the dots are only there if the taskbar is already unlocked.
A couple of ideas. Without getting into more advanced methods . . . try right-clicking the taskbar and selecting "Lock the taskbar", then right-click, select toolbars, deselect "Quick Launch." After it vanishes, re-enable "Quick Launch," right-click, unlock the taskbar. This should reset it to default size.
Another option is to go to desktop properties and up the resolution. The taskbar segments shrink with higher resolutions and you may be able to find your mark from there. Keep in mind that you're looking at the quick-launch originating from the right and stretched left. You've probably tried it but dragging the dots from one side of the taskbar to the other ought to do it.
Or just double-click the start bar ;)

Yeah, I tried all those things, and they didn't seem to work. Fortunatly I remembered system restore, so I just set it to a day ago and it works fine.

Thus accomplishing . . . what, exactly? Clicking the divider, not just the bar or start button does reorganize but doesn't reset to default location. In some situations, double-clicking the divider does nothing.

Regardless, I guess it's resolved.. seems more like a glitch than a taskbar puzzle.
Windows does the dumbest things... mine couldn't install new taskbar toolbars until I fixed it recently with some crappy tool someone made.
I don't use quick launch anymore; I just get my programs from the Start menu.
Yak, that's an easy fix. Click the bar in front of the task and drag it behind the quick launch.

Thanks. :P It was an example . . . one in which double-clicking doesn't work. One should also note that you have to drag it at an angle, not simply right up directly up. It's rather picky, I think. There really ought to be a reset-to-default option aside from probing the registry.
I still haven't managed to duplicate RtF's problem.
