Why are people idiots when it comes to satire?

If you didn't know, I'm a pretty big fan of street fighter. I love playing it when I can. I'm a member of the forums over at shoryuken.com. I made a video today purely as a joke, but I've already gotten messages from several board members complaining about what an idiot I was for saying such stupid things. The video also quickly gained a handful of thumbs down(s?).I thought the joke aspect was blatant, but I guess not. See for yourself if you like:

Well this could be one (or both) of two reasons:

1) This is the internet. People seem inclined to put something down (or take the opposite opinion) even if they like/agree. I haven't figured out the scientific reason for this yet, but I suspect it has something to do with human beings' deep desires for confrontation and the anonymity of the intarwebs which makes them digital tough-guys.

2) In conjunction with #1 (above) you're dealing with a subject loaded with fan-boyism. So you're bound to get the fanatics to come out of the woodworks in an attempt to defend before they actually consider it might be satire. They think you're making fun of their favorite thing so they jump right in to defense mode.

Shrug it off ... I thought the video was rather hilarious and if a couple of fan-boy-d-bags can't take it, just smile to yourself in the knowledge that they suck.

I wouldn't worry about it. A lot of hardcore Street Fighter fans take anything and everything that pops up about the game way too seriously. 3 dislikes on youtube means jack really.
