Yay! As of today, it is illegal to send spam within Australia!! This maketh me happy, because most of the crap I get is internal!!

Dude, making it outlawed won't stop it... basically because the people who send it in the first place are fucking assholes... and you don't think people who send annoying fucking ads, and disgustingly horrid images in emails will stop because "it's illegal", then you are very innocent...

Sometimes it's illegal in the US too.. AOL sued a big spammer and took his shit, then they decided to give his Porsche away in a drawing for AOL members. I think the problem is that the government won't prosecute.

Most of the spam comes from overseas anyway, so I think it will have absolutely no impact whatsoever (except the fact that if you are caught doing it in Aus you will get a huge fine)

it's mostly internal (cause they spell the aussie way), and I know it's not an immediate relief, but it IS a first step.

It won't ever wipe spam out, but at least they're doing SOMETHING about it....

Spam is illegal in europe, iirc. If not, it's gonna be shortly. I'm not peeing my pants just yet tho, because it's not gonna make a jot of difference.

I read and reply to all my spam mail. I once got an email back from one of them telling me to stop doing that. How funny.

I think we should hunt down all the spammers and infect their computers with a virus which will constantly bombard them with popups advertising AGS games.

Yeah I saw this in the news a few days ago. It probably won't do much good, as I'm sure not all that much spam is from australia, but at least it is a first step.
