Post by: Red_Armadillo on Tue 26/08/2003 19:20:27
Hi,

I figured I'd Start A Discussion... soooooooooooooooo

I'm not trying to start a debate or anything but I figured this is the best topic I could come up with

What is your take on the world events right now, such as..... The War In Iraq and all that crap. (no I'm not saying the war in Iraq is crap)

I concur. if you want to talk about Iraq, go pull up one of the Iraq threads (use the search function) and post what you think there.

Well... all I can say is that it's a bit uneventful at the moment, in the US anyway. We're really in a relatively peaceful state, it's just that the terrorist threat looms over our heads so, as a country, we're nervous about relaxing.
I dunno, I just think it's that the fact that the "big news" of late has mainly been about California's governor race and Kobe Bryant. I suppose it's a good sign. Either that, or the media has just suddenly decided to stop covering world events.
Never mind, all I watch is the Daily Show anyway. :P

well, what can we do? fly to Iraq and stop the fighting? nope. Writing congressmen doesnt help, they dont have the balls to do anything. I personally cannot do a thing about it

To, me it seems stupis that the press is only covering Kobe Bryant and all that crap! Why does the press cover one person accused of that? There are thousands upon thousands of people who do that. It's stupid that the only reason they do that is because he is famous. And to the first two posts I wasn't meaning just the War In Iraq I was just giving an example.

I'll remind you and everyone else here: THERE HAS NEVER BEEN AS LITTLE SIVILIAN CASUALTIES AS IN THIS WAR!!!

then let me remind you this... every casualty, no matter civilian or soldier... is 1 too much. I'm all against war, and fights (also in the small) so im trying to not fight about things but live in peace in my own place. If you want to do something about it, start with yourself in your own place, and know what you want. Then when you are really going for your goal, people start following you, and you'll beginning with making a better world...

No sorry, there is no oneminute-cure. People seem to always want to have a cure RIGHT NOW for a diffuculty/problem ... but sometimes you must look further than the length of your nose ;)

All that is required for evil to prevail is that good people do nothing.

this might sound weird, but if there was peace among all living creatures, the world would be a horrible place. and as soon as usa kills Saddam Hussein, Iraq will become a better place. A place where people has the right to say what they want! A place where religion is optional! A place where blablablabla...(miss India's speech)

that's a tad contradictory isn't it 12431

so if everyone was at peace the world would be a horrible place... BUT the iraqis can be at peace even though that apprently pushes the world a little closer to being a terrible place?

yea i'm with you, peace on earth would suck! then who would we irrationally hate and fear and keep our daughters from marrying?

DOWN WITH WORLD PEACE!!!

12431, do you occasionally read other people's posts?
You seem to hold your own little dialog here

Did Hanson get out of gaol? I missed the news.

I think people have forgotten what she stood for, I think she should be in gaol for just being her, She must be a relo of that American kid band [hanson]. (if not, reggie from big bro)

Nah, she should just have to stay in queensland.
