I can't agree more, specially because I've developred the feeling that there is some poeple who just come here because we've earning a fame of an easy-to-annoy community, and there are professional flamers who like to join to see how we fight...

A clear example was Phil Roberts... He was (IMO) a moron... but he was clever. I think he came here just to have a little of fun with us, and he flamed and made us discuss as never happened before, as far as I remember...

So, the sollution is to keep calm when a newbie comes here making noise... We all knw how annoying is to see that a n00b has started 3 new threads in every forum, but, let's give them a change... we can have nice surprises... I remember once opening the forums and saying a guy who was flooding CL and Games in developement with his new game... I was pissed, but when I opened I was amazed which what I saw... His name was Dan Clarke, and we all his art looks supperb and his game looks promising.

But, what about if he is an annoying lame n00b? mmm... let's the moderators work... I can image that a moderator's PM can be so much shocking than 20 harsh replies and will surelly make the n00b change his attitude in spite of facing the replies.

And if he keeps his attitude... maybe a one/two weeks lock wounldn't hurt...

My two cents.

Have we earned a fame as an easy to annoy community? I did not know that. This is the only forum I visit, so I wouldn't know.

It's the feeling I had after seeing how some members logged into former Hosamov's Hackers forum to mock him... This was not a wise idea, IMO, because we made the AGS forums too visible to the hackers/Mockers/stupids...

After that two or three more flamers have came, maybe it was more a consequence of the fame that the engine itself is reaching, I hope it was that... I don't want to be the targets of that groups....

BTW, that sentence was not based in a tangible information, it was just a feeling... What I am quite sure is that most of that noobs who left after a flame war (Which was the name of that guy who wanted to make music for adventure games without giving a sample of his work?) are not going to spread good news about the AGSers.

Is just that this guys leaving without deeply knowing us start to talk crap about us? Of course not, but I think they're doing it...

Ah right, I see what you mean. And I'd have to agree. There are a lot of angry angry people here who will do anything to strike out at the newbies, I'm even ashamed to say I've done it a couple of times :(.

I realise now a lot of the newbies ARE excited to be starting on a new 'adventure' (geddit? adventure? Ho ho ho), I remember that even I was when I started. I was more of an asshole then than I am now (if that's possible), & everyone needs time to calm down a little like I did (at least, I hope that's how people see me.....).

If Legge reads this, I'd like to wish him every luck in any games he decides to make.

I think you might have misunderstood me.

I was talking about people who've been here for a long time that feel the urge to post stuff like "Goddammit, your age says 12! No wonder you're acting like a 12-year old" when about half a dozen people have already posted the exact same thing.

I won't mention names.

Ah! Ok, so, I ve posted a somewhat original opinion!  :)

But it is related... You're saying that there are examples of people who repeat what has been said before (In this case flaming a n00b), and I was saying that we must make an attempt not to over react oin front of n00bs.

Ah, yes, I agree completely. I hope the people in question take note of your comments.
