We've had this thread before ... I tried to search for it, but couldn't find.

So I guess I'll just add to this one:
XP Pro
Intel P4 2.8 GHz
512 MB RAM
120gb HD
NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 (128 MB)
21" ViewSonic G810

BUT ... not for long!!

What have I just ordered you asked?

2 - 17" Samsung Flatpanel monitors
2 - 250gb WesternDigital 7200rpm hard drives
16X Dual-layer DVD/48X CD burner
2gb RAM
Pinnacle Studios MOVIEBOX deluxe

I'm going to be a DVD making fool!

(and Sara gets a 21" monitor for her computer for free ... aint she lucky?)

I bought this computer brand new back in July.

It's an Emachines (my 2nd Emachines computer within 5 years, they are pretty good)

Model T4852
P4 2.8 GHz w/ HT
512 MB DDR SDRAM
120 GB Hard Drive
DVD+/-RW
CD Burner 52x24x52x (this i took from my old computer and replaced the crappy 40x non burning CDROM drive that came with my current computer)

Nvidia (Apollo Bloody Monster 3) 128mb GeForce FX 5200 (This i just put in recently, because this computer came with 64MB of onboard video ram which didn't want to run anything)

17" Samsung SyncMaster 750s monitor that i bought back in April 2000.

Running Windows XP Home Edition also.

This baby cost me 800 dollars (US), and has been pretty good. I have some minor complaints but nothing too bad.

I notice that most computers are in the middle of mid-low range systems. I decided to get a P4 2.8GHz 400fsb, Samsung PC3200 512MB DDR Ram, Asus Radeon 9600SE(this can smoke a FX5200 I heard.) SiS FX661(good mobo for price), a 2000RPM 80mm chassis fan.

I just have one question for you...

when you boot up, do you have time to see the win2k logo, or is it just like a barely perceptible flash of light?

it's quite visible, i usually just end up missing my ASUS BIOS screen thingy as my graphics card tends to take a little while to get my monitor started, although if i'm using the video-out and have my TV on i see it straight away, this pc actually takes a surprisingly long time to boot

It's fast enough to play any new games I want to play, but it's too fast to play DOS games without DOSbox.
It shows pretty colours.
I haven't run out of memory yet.
It isn't broken.
I can watch DVDs on it.
I can burn CDs, but don't
It has a nifty drive in the front that lets me put my camera's memory card right in the computer.
I have a flat screen monitor.  I bought it seperatly but it's still the same colour as my computer. Which is coincidently the same colour as my stereo and my refrigerator.

I am Luddite, hear me roar!
