Title: z5? + Legend of the Sword
Post by: Kinoko on Tue 25/05/2004 15:26:02
I just downloaded my beloved game, Leather Goddesses of Phobos from Underdogs but alas, it's in a file type called "z5". What on earth is this and what can I do with it?

I also got Legend of the Sword... man, I love that game! Did anyone else play it?

Wasn't that an Infocom game, in which case I'd probably google for "Infocom interpreter" or something like that...

It's Z-code, yes. You can run it using WinFrotz (http://www.ifarchive.org/if-archive/interpreters-infocom-zcode/frotz/WindowsFrotz2002.zip), for example.

I hope you got the docs or you'll be Hopping, Clapping and Kweepa-ing for a long time!

Oh, and I'd just use good old DOS Frotz - there's something magical about playing the Infocom games full screen 80x25. Sigh.

I ended up getting Frotz (it was just the first one I saw and it works fine from what I can tell).

I've since discovered the version of LGOP I downloaded is a version that doesn't allow you to choose your level of 'lewdity' at the start, and is unfortunately set on tame. Not that I got the game for the sexual content @_@ No siree!! (...) but it's the most boring version and I'm a bit annoyed. I've never had much luck downloading this game since ridding myself of my original amiga version.

EDIT: Er, nevermind that. I suddenly remembered how to change it... damn mind, it starts to go when you reach your early twenties...
