Sorry.

I have only seen the trailer for this movie, but it does look really good. I won't get to see it until it comes out on DVD, because I do not go to the movies.

:)

I liked it.

Philip J. Reed did not.

He says it fails at creating compelling enough characters. And thinks Shaun of the Dead creates a much better narrative.

I agree with him, but feel that Zombieland still achieves what it sets out to do. And that is to be a kickass 90 minutes of zombie carnage and hilarity intertwined.

My favorite part was the cameo. Which I won't spoil for anyone. But Oh. Em. Eff. Gee.

Hooray.* LGM I knew you could do it! All by yourself you came up with this awesome topic of discussion. And let me tell you, after that dramatic opening post, how could this thread not be a success? Oh, also I haven't seen the movie but am looking forward to it for, as you say, "what it sets out to do."

*It's a well known, and by "well known" I actually mean "little known to all save a very select few to whom I have expressly stated the following information", fact that when I see/say/think/hear/type the word, "Hooray" I tend to envision an office-type setting. There's some type of informal celebration going on, perhaps someone's birthday. Nobody really cares but there's the two (or so) token guys who at least try to attempt providing some minuscule amount of fake enthusiasm by saying, not really so much exclaiming, but simply stating in a normal, even monotone voice, "Hooray." Only once they realize that no one else is really joining in they then begin to kind of drop off; lowering their voices in the hopes that nobody will think them strange. It's a bit of a stretch but that is honestly how I envision the word. Hooray. Oh, and also that's why I follow it with a period (full-stop) instead of an exclamation point.

Ebert gave it 3 stars! (Review may contain spoilers)

I feel so relieved now that I know what Philip J Reed thinks and says about the movie  :P

Looks like typical American blockbuster cheese, so might be worth a look. I'm not a big fan of Woody Harleson (sp) but then again, I haven't seen him on the big screen (apart from his cameo in one of Austin Powers) so that's a small pulling factor for me. Very unlikely I'll go and pay £7 to see it though.

I'll probably watch it at the drive in for added cheese factor.  I hate Woody Harrelson's stupid face but I'll see it anyway.

I guess he's right for the part. I'd want to be in the middle of a load of zombies with Woody, he's just got that psycho personality. You wouldn't need to do anything, just watch him go mental. A bit like that other movie he's in where he runs off with that psychotic bitch. But I guess that's what this movie is for, proving he's an outback meathead who ain't gonna take ner shit from nerbody.. ;)

Natural Born Killers

I couldn't stand that movie. Stopped watching it about half way through.

Zombieland was cute, I saw it last weekend. It's not Hollywood cheese, Woody Harrelson is not what I would call serious Hollywood big name, he was perfect in the role though.

I actually fell asleep. This is the #1 on my list of crap movies and I won't watch any craps from Stone any more. Luckily I didn't watch it on big screen.

Saw it. Liked it. It moves at a hell of a pace -- just an hour and a half long and it never slows down. Woody surprised me. I actually found him entertaining. The rest of the cast was solid in their roles too. Great cameo. Good ending. It was nice to see a zombie movie where the zombie fighters weren't dysfunctional, unlikeable cyphers who exist more as social commentary than as actual character I'm supposed to relate to (later Romero movies, I'm looking at you).

Worth the price of admission.

Don't mention later movies and Romero ever again.  I'm still desperately trying to forget Land of the Dead.

It's not really working.

Are you kidding me? Natural Born Killers is a fantastic movie, the ending is brilliant! Pah! Who watches half a movie.

Land Of The Dead, Dawn Of The Dead.
Nah, I prefer Shaun Of The Dead.

Still have to watch Zombieland...

I agree with Chicky. Natural Born Killers is great, one of the few Stone films I like. He's generally a twat but this film was aces.

I just watched this last night. I thought it was excellent.  Very funny and it has lots of zombies being slaughtered... who can't enjoy that??

I kinda liked how his list of rules would show up on the screen.  Also the endless hunt for the twinkie. lol

I think they could have done without the cameo, but it was still enjoyable and funny.

The trailers they showed before the movie started playing, had 2012.  A movie about the 'end of the world' on December 21, 2012.  It looked like it had some pretty hefty animations.  Can't believe they're going to be making a movie about something so many people believe is going to happen (not me).  Wouldn't that add a little more fear in the situation?  People stock piling loads of groceries, or booking a ticket to go over seas, so they can 'survive' like they are in the 2012 movie.  Oh well.

I enjoyed Columbus' set of rules. That was both refreshing and interesting. Also, the scenes that accompanied the rules in the beginning were rather humourous. Other than that? I was expecting a bit more in the gore factor. Some of the best scenes came later on at the amusement park. Innovative kills. Emma Stone also sealed the deal for me as eye candy, and the cameo was great. :)
