Sam and Max, bug mabey?

Im playing Sam and Max and when i put the wires on the binoculors in the ball of twine, i can't control it manually, it still spins on its own, is this a bug or did i forget something?

According to this walkthrough:

Control the speed of the binoculars by clicking the "switch".

(If all you've done with the binox is to use the wire, it seems you are still missing something.)

You need to attach the wires, tape on the lens and control by the switch on the binocluars that you see when you look through them.
