Title: 5 days a stranger
Post by: on Tue 13/11/2007 04:25:03
Hi, I started playing this but the gray font that's used for when Trilby examines things blends in with the background and it hurts my eyes to read.  Is there a way i can change it or is there another version?

I don't remember grayish backgrounds in 5das... Sure your monitor settings are correct?

That's strange!

The gray text should be displayed on a BLACK board, not a transparent one! Where have you downloaded it? Have you tried to change the resolution in the setup?

That's really weird...

I downloaded off of the AGS site and Yahtzee's.  I can't access the winsetup.exe file because I'm on a mac using the AGS runtime, at least I don't know how to.

Unfortunately I am not a MAC user. Maybe if you try to emulate windows and launch the game from there you should be able to get it.

I have the exact same problem. Also with a Mac, also with the AGS runtime. Is there a way to work around it?

Also, and as an aside, in Trilby's Notes, I cannot backspace when I input commands in the parser.

I'm a big fan if Trilby and played all the games  (special editions) in my desktop PC. But now I'm traveling a lot because of my work, and I have my macbook with me. Recently I felt nostalgic and decided to try and re-play the whole saga and found myself stuck in 5 days a stranger because of the text problem. Pity...

Hi,
i know this thread's been dead for years, but since the internet doesn't seem to die tomorrow and maybe another mac-user wants to play "5 days a stranger" the day after tomorrow, here how it works now:

Do not download the normal game, but the special edition.
http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/5days/

With the special edition there will be no problem with the gray text or the missing black background using the AGS Runtime.

And there it is: another little problem solved; the internet is one step closer to being perfect  ;)

I'm not perfect in english, so please explain me what "5 days a stranger" means.
I don't really understand these titles, like "6 days assassin", "7 days a skeptic", "6 days a sacrifice".

It means "5 days of a stranger", "7 days of a skeptic", "6 days of a sacrifice"?

Edit: I know "6 days assassin" is not a game by Yahtzee, just similar title.

As far as I understand, "5 days a stranger" can be put as "spending 5 days being a stranger".
The game has five parts, each taking place on one of 5 consecutive days.

It means every 5 days you meet a stranger, every 6 days a sacrifice is made, and every 7 days a skeptic gets on your own nerves.

Ah, okay... So it seems these are mysterious, "think what you want" titles :)
I just wanted to clarify this thing, because I played the first three games(now playing with the SE versions) and I'm really a fan of them :) However, the 6 days a sacrifice is still waiting for me...
