I need help in Day 2:

I am just wandering about the corridor. I have magnifying lens and have unlocked the left panel on the big metal door room. I have no idea what the password to the right panel is. I have checked the journal several times and just keep getting caught by the guard. Can anyone help me?

Thats crazy fast.
Still I feel like it was easier than the others in the series.
Maybe thats just me.
Well, as in all Yahtzee games, I got stuck right at the beginning and then played the game through fluently and easily. Though, I wouldn't have been able to write a walkthrough that fast.
Woohoo... I'm on Day four and loving it, but unfortunatley it's time to go to bed.
Am finding it a little easier than the previous Trilbys, but the emphasis on the storyline is brilliant and It feels more like an interactive novel.
I keep saying it but these games should be made into a series of films... perhaps it could be a Trilbilogy... ;) :-\ :o

I don't seem it to have it. How do I access my inventory? the right click screen doesn't have any items except the default actions, journal and phone and using journal on her doesn't work

I'm in the dark wearing the outfit. The walkthrough says to use the tarpaulin, but all I see is myself and the darkness.
Ah, got it. It didn't work first time round, for some reason.

How did you figure it out? I can't!
To give an object to a person, right-click on the person, then select the object from your inventory. The same applies to using an inventory object on something in a room, but, obviously, only works where there are hotspots.

I know I gotta distract Trilby, but where do I lead him to?
Are you in the early "Triby is guarding the door" phase? Then look around for something odd... and try and lead him there.

okay, i'm totally thick apparently, because even with the hint 'look for something odd' i can't find anything odd, and if i try to lead him anywhere, either he catches me, or i get into a door and he doesn't follow me, so i call Sam and she says he's still there.

The room next to the one with the bed, remember? The one from which the Tall Man came forth to kill Trilby in the very beginning? You have to lead him into that room.

Highlight the spoilers to view:
1) First of all : is Janine showing up and chasing you, all weirdly dressed? If no/never then you are looking for pickaxe too early
2) Secondly : Did you notice that the door is different? If you've played 7 Days a Stranger, you might recognise it as the door of the backyard shed.
3) Thirdly: Sure you didn't pick it up, get killed and it's still in your inventory? That happened to me. I was confused, because I thought I had to start from nothing after awaking from the nightmare again.
Also, the pickaxe disappears forever once it's done it's job.

Door just doesn't open, I tried to open it a few times in a row, tried to talk to it, tried to use the lens with it... nothing happens. Been in every other room and didn't notice anything. Afterwards I read the walkthrough until this part... but it didn't help me.
I just tested it:

You need to see Jeanine run away. That means either from the door of the sleeping quarters to the left or walk the corridor all the way to the right. After you've seen Jeanine run off, the doors will open.

Start the game, get out of the room and walk either left or right.
That did the trick for me. Not sure what happened in your case but since you're only at day 1 you might want to consider a fresh (re)start. If it still doesn't work, let me know, I'd like to see your savegame.

Ain't I supposed to go INTO the sleeping quarters to meet Janine there to get the weapons? That's what I thought the walkthrough meant
From your first save, you still haven't seen Jeanine walk away. You can walk past the sleeping quarters to the left. Alternatively walk further to the right. You need to see a screen-change. Same goes for the second save game. Just walk a bit further to the left....
Wtf? I swear it wasn't possible to walk there before :o
