Help with QfG 4.5

I've been playing Quest for Glory 4.5 on and off for quite some time, and I realized that there are a lot of locations I simply can't access any more because the game immediately crashes when I enter them -- the Joneses' house, one particular patch of woods in the north, the cape store at night, the Bank end of Spielburg during the day (night is fine, until the sun rises)...I thought I could play around it since a lot of the crashes occur in places where I've already done what I need to, but now I can't enter the apartment under Coyote Ugly, and I'm stuck in the game.

The website for the game seems to be no longer in existence, and my searches haven't turned up much helpful information. Does anyone know anything about these bugs or how to get around them?

Any help would be appreciated. This game has been sitting around on my computer for ages, and I'd love to just be able to finish it and be done with it!
