 ??? I'm stuck in Aaron's Epic Journey. After i get the first piece of gold, what do i do?

OK, is this a bug?  I got turned into a frog, found I couldn't carry a book, then as soon as I left the library to report back to the wizard and complain that I couldn't carry a book because I was a frog, suddenly there's a stomping of hooves, I'm surrounded by animals, and the game is over (after a bit of wandering around).  Neither the hooves/animals nor the end of the game make any sense whatsoever.  I feel like I've missed a significant portion of the game.  Is this just a weird game with a wacky unrelated ending or did something go wrong?  It does this each time I play through it...

The same thing just happened to me.  Too bad there is no readme or author contact info in the download.  J

The splendid piece of gaming was made by Superhoughton, a very talented and wise man, who is the legend around AGS old guard.
When he still was with us, nobody could understand the wanderings and sudden twists of his immensly educated brain. The ending you've reached is the proper one, you haven't missed anything - but to achieve any understanding, I guess you just have to read as much ancient philosophers as Superhoughton did. He never told us what the ending signified, he just used to smile mysteriously and told us that we will "understand in due time". Now there's even a discussion group that meets on the mIrc channel to discuss and ponder the meaning of the ending with lots of sheep et al.

I just downloaded the game, what do I do??????!?!!?!? I lokked at everything, used everything possible, walked everywhere in the two start screens, but with no result!! :'( :'( >:(

you have to talk to him and ask him if you could have a ladder
