Hi , I am having a problem with this too , I've already looked at the doorknob and nothing special happened so I don't have a spell to peform on the area where the key was.

When you download the game a readme file downloads with it. If you read that it will explain how to cast the spell.

I still had some trouble there for a while , but eventually I got it. Now I feel stupid for not thinking to try the image thing earlier.  *blush* Thanks for telling me about the readme , even though I usually look for such documents first ....some times I forget to do that. And this particular readme was a bit confusing. I usually love to read but somehow kept being bored whenever I'd check the html format book thingie.
It's kinda like shakespeare , you get interested and some how not interested at the same time because there's alot of "technical" / details to know and remember.  ( "shouldn't play games at night...big words...figures...details...arg! head hurts...zzz." lol )

If any other newbies to the game have the same problem , psst , think about what the symbol looks like and recreate it starting from the bottom row in the stone thingie rather than trying to start in the middle ...good luck

I know your post is almost a year old but I can't find that much in the forum on this game. So the main thing to keep in mind when using the Engalwood stone is to start at the bottom left side? Does your hand have to be in the middle of it or is anywhere on the stone okay. Also I noticed when you click on the impressions on the stone it makes a sound. Does this happen everytime you click on it or only when you do it in a particular order? Sorry I'm asking so many questions but I have read the document about the stone and still I am doing something wrong...

I just started this one too. Instead of clicking on the stones I held my mouse button down and dragged it in the shape of the pattern, starting at bottom left one,something did happen because it lit up and my curser changed,but I still haven't been able to get in the door, not sure what I am doing wrong so if you figure it out let me know what to do.

[/spoiler] I guess theres different ways to get in because I read in this thread about casting spell on image of key, which I found under the welcome mat, but for some reason I couldn't figure that one out. So I put the bullet from my inventory into the keyhole and looked at it and it said now I need some way to fire it. So I looked in the book for a spell for fire and its figure 6, start at the left side, from the second stone up and hold your mouse button down and drag it in that pattern and the bullet will fire and the door will be unlocked [/spoiler]

look under the welcome mat, there is a place where a key should be, cast the spell that you saw on the doorknob, again by holding down your mouse button and dragging it in that pattern, curser changes to a red circle when you cast a spell, click that on the place where key should be and you will get a key for the door

Joyce, It did for work for me too! Hurrah!. Now I am in the house and the only room I can get into is the one upstairs. I don't think the hero was meant to interact much in this game. The only thing he can interact with is a table lamp.  Let me know if you figured this one out when you get there. Thanks

Desi, I did manage to finish the game. Its really quite short.
I'll try and give you a few hints without spoiling it for you

room on ground floor

you can go into the room on the ground floor, think I did that by using the hand on the curtain or around there somewhere, look at the picture on the wall really carefully, you will see some colours that are in a certain order,  make a note of the order they are in

then go upstairs, and if you get stuck again ask. I did a search for this game and I found a few hints in completed games as well.

Joyce, I see picture and when I look at it it gives me a close up of the man with different colored stones on his fingers. I'm still not sure how that relates to the lamp upstairs since its the only other thing I can interact with???

yes on the mans ring, there are 4 colours, make a note of the order of the colours, what colour is on top, what is 2nd, what is 3rd and what is on the bottom, write it down so that you remember what order they are in then go upstairs. You have to make the room with the lamp in it dark so close the door, close the window blind, and turn off the light switch. You should see 4 little lights, click on them and you will pick them up, they are gems. They need to go into the lamp.
