I don't know, haven't played this game yet, but I think the AGS version is similar to the original (apart from being made into point and click), you may try a walkthrough for the original game from popular sites (like Game FAQs (http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/data/11194.html) for example.)

I haven't played this game but I did a search on google for black cauldron walkthrough and lots came up but i don't know if its the same game you are playing, try that and see if it is.
