It seems you have to do a lot of other things first

You have to get past the spider, concentrate on that task.

Ask the other animals for help and try to get past the spider

You can always ask the helpful worm and present things to get a clue

You can make a sound with the pipe without using any other item.

Hopefully the tips sthomannch gave have helped with your question already, but if not

you just need to use the pipe on bug himself to make him blow on it and make a sound. Do that in the right room and you'll be able to progress!

I realised that I had to use the pipe on the main character and not on others.

The second part of the game was really fun.
