AGA

Whoa, whoa, slow down there. You're asking for help for 3 different things there, take it one at a time :P

Spoiler
The answer to the poster thing and the strongman thing are exactly the same, show the poster to the strongman. As for the island, what island?

re the poster............the old man wants you to put it up in the bar - have you done anything to the pie - this will allow you to enter the bar, if you've done that then you need to show it to the strongman

You have to recruit more people in your circus. Have you got Adrastos, Laria,  Zanebono and the bear?

if i said i recruited them all but the kids, what does that usually mean?

sorry but i've been trying for like 2 hours!!!

jane

Spoiler
the mother wants proof that you will provide them with a good home - have you given her that? When you have shown her proof go back to circus tent and they should all be waiting for you

Since there didn't seem to exist a walkthrough for this awesome game, I wrote my own: http://glarandel.host.sk/misc/cirque.html

AGA

I'm pretty sure the game's author said she didn't want a walkthrough written yet, that's why :)

jane

I may be the only one thinking like this but surely  the fun of adventure games is trying to work out the puzzles.................it seems a shame that walkthroughs are made for such new games...........when someone has worked so hard to make a new game it makes it tooooo easy!   :P

From the readme: "I will not answer emails asking for in-game help. As yet, there is no walkthrough."
Seems pretty clear to me.

Good points, but I still think it's everybody's individual choice whether to get help from a walkthrough or not.

I agree. Its like smoking or any other harmful habit. er.....on second thought, maybe smoking isn't the right analogy, but you get my point. (Walkthroughs don't give you cancer or turn your lungs into gooey blobs of tar.) Generally I don't download the newest games and then try and find all the answers for the tough puzzles on the Hints forum before I even begin playing, but I bet some people do. I DO use walkthroughs (when available) when I get really stuck and I don't feel like spending and hour trying to decipher a problem which won't make much sense once I solve it anyway.

As far as walkthroughs go, they are VERY good things which benifet everybody. Why you ask?
1. The player doesn't need to spend hours searching through page after page in the forums to seek the exact thing they have a question to. (because we yell at them if they start a new thread. :D)
2. Players don't need to repeatedly answer the same questions over and over again.
3. I've had this happan to me time and time and time and time again. While searching for the exact hint I need, all the other events in the game which I havn't seen yet become clear from the other questions.

"Hey! Does anyone know how to open the locked door in the secret tunnel under the circus which you can only get to once you pass through the jungle of dispair and desert of ultimate chaos? Because all I have is the pack of condoms and a foam bat."

GAH! I didn't even know there WAS a desert....and now the whole game is spoiled! ;)

and 4........it saves space on the forums so there isn't need of so many threads.

Anyway....thats my little speach. I don't see one thing wrong about walkthroughs or why there shouldn't be one. Its just the same as this hints forum, only alot more efficent. And like smoking, go a head and do it if you want, but don't blow the smoke in my direction. I can buy my own cigerattes if I want to kill the fun.

I agree.  Some games are easy and others are not. But depending on your state of mind sometimes what was easy yesterday may not be so clear today.  Or may what someone finds easy may not be that easy for someone else.

When you start playing a game, you don't want to miss/bypass anything so walkthrus can be very helpful.  Now again you DON'T HAVE TO USE the walkthrus, it's your choice. But I do believe that a walkthru should be available with every new game, when it is still fresh in the author's mind.

For myself, if I am in the middle of a game and concentring on it, and get stuck, I should appreciate it if I can look at my print of the walkthru instead of quitting my game and go search if there are any hints in the forum relating to exactly where I am stuck.

I am submitting these comments in a very friendly way because I REALLY enjoy this forum.  I myself feel great when I can help other players but it is frustrating if you get stuck at 1:00 am and there is nobody to read my question until maybe the next day at 8:00 pm. So walkthrus are GOOD and free to USE OR NOT.

I don't mind at all if people write walkthroughs for my game - in fact, kudos to you Glarandel! I'd prefer it if people tried to solve the puzzles themselves but we all need the help of a walkthrough at some point or another. I was too busy living life and fixing all the many bugs that plagued the game's earlier days right after finishing it to write a walkthrough myself. I was always planning on doing it after things calmed down a bit but I have no problems with people takng the initiative themselves.
