Hi there,
Can anyone give me a little push/hint on the Jumbler puzzle (from the newspaper on the right-hand screen with the picture of a woman with a black eye and all the answers filled in with "gibberish"). Just an idea of where to begin with that puzzle would be great.

I solved the two code puzzles already if anyone needs help with those.

Spoiler
The Jumbler was meant to act as a key for the code written on the pizza box.  If you already cracked that bit, then you don't really need the Jumbler.

As for the solution to the Jumbler riddle, that's just an optional for-fun kind of thing.

I'll give you a cookie if you can solve it though!  It's funny.  And sexist!

futonrevolution

Heh. Most people I know would say that "funny and sexist" is either repetitive or an oxymoron. Then again, there's only two types of people in this world: those who divide people up into two arbitrary "us vs. them" groups and those who don't. I don't think the cookie would survive crossing an ocean and continent to get to me, but it's worth a shot - especially since I'm hooked on solving it anyway!

Ok, so I currently have
Spoiler
entered the codes from the pizza box and fridge with the Trans-Am purple lighting. The "not mine" beer is set in the "not mine" slot and the other slot has the mirror.
[close]
Is there a third code to decipher that I apparently haven't found yet or...
Spoiler
do I simply need to keep fiddling with the fridge and wires to set the electrical trap? Or is there something altogether different needed to trigger things?
[close]

Fantastic game/puzzles, by the way... if you're not just being modest about not being able to draw, then there's hope for me yet. Also, I loved what I saw of your site while searching for information/hints on Domestic Conspiracy. The 4-1-05 blog entry and movie trailer turned a bad day into a good one.

Thanks, man.  I'm glad you liked the site.  I'm also glad that you're about the only person to show interest in this game!  ;)

If you haven't recieved a message that tells you that you won, you haven't finished yet!

Here's a hint:
Spoiler

When looking at the fridge, do you notice anything unusual above (below... depending on your definition) the fridge... perhaps drawn on the couch?

Let me know if you need any more!

Come on, people... I can't be the only one playing this demo! {grin} There's good art, consistent characterization of both the protaganist and environment, genuinely funny dialogue that stays in-character, lots of little details to add believability, etc. The puzzles are a bit non-standard, but that's supposed to be a good thing; if you can play Hangman without hanging yourself, then you can crack cryptograms.

Oh, and... what's strong enough for a man, but made for a woman?
Spoiler
The back of my hand.

As for the area above/below the fridge...
Spoiler
I had earlier assumed it was a secret compartment and tried cutting, squeezing, different switch combinations, etc. to no avail. When the fridge door was open, the description was "No Light," so I decided it was just a clue on getting the first Beer Holder light to blink.

So the lower Beer Holder light is still blinking merrily away, but I'm stuck on what the next step is.
[close]

I'm still finding great desciptions as I randomly click away, though. This just might be the first time that pixel-hunting around the screen, hoping for a lucky break, wasn't tedious.

Well done, you get a cookie!

As for the place you are stuck:

Subtle hint:
Spoiler
The "No Light" wasn't referring to the blinky red LED on the cup holder.  It was suggesting that you try to shed some light on the situation.
[close]

Less subtle:
Spoiler
Is there a way to examine that area under a different light?
[close]

Far less subtle:
Spoiler
Reflect the black(purple) light onto that area of the couch.
[close]

Straight up solution:
Spoiler
Use the cut-open beer can to reflect light by setting it on the coffee table and changing the fridge light to the black(purple) light
[close]

And thanks for the kind words!  I really appreciate it!  Be sure to leave a comment in the Game in Production thread or the on the main AGS game page!

can i please have some help with the fridge code?
Spoiler
i have done the pizza code, i can see the writing in the fridge. is there a way to get it the right way up? how do i solve the numerical code?\

Take the road less travelled.... you won't meet so many idiots on the way.

Vince Twelve

Spoiler
Turn your monitor upside-down...

As for the numerical code, can you find any place to enter it?

i entered a number on the dial and the top button is now blinking. just not sure what comes next. but i guess i have to work out that message on the back of the fridge. time to perfect my headstand. good grief  ;D

Or you could just tilt your head sharply...  I didn't intend "writing upside-down" to be a puzzle  :P

Spoiler
but i'm a tetraplegic!Ã,  ::)

okay, i've done that fridge code, i've entered the number from below the fridge in the remote, it says bingo but i can't work out what has changed. have the mirror setup and the code from the fridge writing but it says error when i enter that. bottom light still not blinking. not sure what else to do! /
Spoiler

i am enjoying this game.

It's supposed to be from the point of view of the guy on the couch.  He's leaning forward and looking between his legs.   Hence the upside-down viewpoint.  ;)

got it. that was fun. not sure why nobody else is playing it
Take the road less travelled.... you won't meet so many idiots on the way.

Okay..I think I've got pretty much every decoding puzzle, except the one with the numbers bordering the sticky note.

Spoiler
I've worked out that every letter corresponds to a number, in order, and that these numbers loop, but.. I cannot figure out what to do with this information. I have a hunch it has to do with giving the red button power.. but.. hmm. Does it correspond with the "KRAAN" in any way?

Other than the codes, I've gotten the red button to rise up (obviously), got that little light beside it blinking, but not the one under it, and have the mirror/beer can in position. Also, I was never really sure what the first code (from the pizza box) actually did.
[close]

Vince Twelve

Spoiler
The sticky note serves as a key to decyphering the words written on the back of the fridge.  If you don't figure that out though, it's perfectly possibly to brute-force solve that message.

Entering the code from the pizza box into the remote control unlocks the fridge.  If you try to open it before entering the code, it will be locked.
[close]

Thanks for playing! Let me know if you need something else!

Corr

Spoiler
Wait, back of the fridge? Like on the inside? If so, I don't really understand the correlation; if not, how does one pull the fridge out to see the back of it?
[close]

Vince Twelve

Yeah, sorry.  I meant the inside, not the backside.

full explanation:
Spoiler
The sticky note hints at a way to encrypt the alphabet.  A x 3 = C implies changing the letters to numbers, multiplying by three and then changing back to the alphabet.  (A=1; 1 x 3 = 3; 3=C; Therefore, A=>C) (B=2; 2 x 3 = 6; 6=F; Therefore, B=F)  The looping numbers from 1 to 26 around the edge implies mod 26. (Z=26; 26 x 3 = 78; 78 mod 26 = 0(or 26); 26 = Z; therefore, Z=Z)  Using this code you can decode the message inside the fridge.  Or, you can brute force it which may take more time.
[close]

regarding the second blinky light:
Spoiler
The second blinky light is powered by the red cord.  Can you figure out where the red cord goes and find out how to give it power?
[close]

Corr

Finally, I have time for another crack at this.

Spoiler
Hmm. But the message on the inside of the fridge doesn't correspond to this method, if I've solved it correctly. If I haven't(which would be quite startling, considering the chances of it still making sense with a faulty translation)... hmm. No, this method wouldn't yield anything that makes sense. Eh... IS it for 'KRAAN' ? Hmm. Would be 7-2-3-3-16. Crap.

If it actually is somehow for the message on the inside of the fridge, I'm glad I just started with the "P.S." and went from there. e.e

And is there any possible way to open that little doorblicking my view to the rest of the red and brown wire, or do I need to figure something out with... hmm. I'll scurry off to look again.
[close]

Vince Twelve

Remember, there's two ways to apply an encryption.

Spoiler
The part of the message that translates to "P.S." is written on the fridge as V.E.

We can use the cypher in one way:

(>>>>solve it this way>>>>>>)
V=22; 22x3=66; 66%26=14; 14=N;
E=5; 5x3=15; 15=O;

V.E.=N.O.

Which is nonsense.

OR we can go the other way:

(<<<<<solve it this way<<<<<<<)
P=16; 16x3=48; 48%26=22; 22=V;
S=19; 19x3=57; 57%26=5; 5=E;

V.E.=P.S.

Write out a full alphabet in this manner and you'll see that it translates perfectly, you were probably just applying the cypher alphabet to the regular text and the regular alphabet to the cypher text.

regarding that little door:
Spoiler

perhaps something in the message we just decoded could help
