help with "nick and run"

  please help me with the ending part of nick and run, I could not use the gas mask with the opening.  please help

I'm in the same boat...I have the three different types of ketchup and the Elixer of Life, but can't get that darn box to work on the grate. I need to get up there to get the Stan!

- use the matches with the smoke machine (in order to smoke the hall out)
- use the half string with the burger box (get sophisticated gas mask)
- use the sophisticated gas mask with the opening

in any case, I can't recall anyone having trouble with this before...

I did all of those things over and over and over again and still nothing happens. Is this a bug in my game maybe? I even tried starting the game over and it did no good.
