Can't launch ship.  When I enter coordinates, am given message "can only be done in space," or something like that.  Thanks.

It works the other way 'round.

Spoiler
First click on the 'Systems' button, then on the 'Launch' button. You'll get into outer space. Then enter the correct coordinates and push the 'Go' button.
