It's been a long time since I played this game, but if I remember correctly, you have to earn it by doing something for him. Don't ask me what - I don't remember.

Or have you already done what he wanted you to do? I think he gives it to you automatically when you tell or show him that you've done what he wanted, or given him what he wanted.

Is this some bug... I cant get the diving gear from the crewman....

talk to the guy with the diving gear. he will tell you to catch him some fish.
go catch fish. give him fish. he will give you diving/scuba gear.

I'm stuck at the underwater part of the game.
I'm doing everything I can, but it is still very dark inside the submarine - I see nothing except the "bac to the station" hotspot.
How do I switch the light on?

Your submarine should have a spotlight in front of it.  You should not need to switch it on; it should be there automatically.

If you still have trouble seeing anything on your screen try adjusting the settings on your monitor to make your monitor brighter.  This is actually a pretty dark part of the game, so you may just have to look carefully while you explore.

I have read all 15 pages of posts and can't find my answer.

How do I talk to the guard at the dig site? Every time I get close he shoos me away and I can't find the hot spot to talk to him.

Ok, this isn't a hint per se.  Its just that I forgot what a character said in game and I can't get him to talk again.

In the Goblin Fortress:

I caught the mouse, I gave it to the chef, and he said something (he mentioned sausages, and serving it to the king), I put sausage into the stew.  But It says it needs something before serving it.  What was the chef's exact words again? He doesn't talk any more. I have a plate, sword and dungeon key in my inventory.

i don't think the chef asked you to put anything else en, apart from the sasuges.
but, you have to put something else in yourself. the prisoner in the dungeon might help you. he will give you something in return for his freedom.

stop a little bit away from the guard (keep the guard at the edge of the screen), then use talk icon on him.
