Need some hints/tips.  
So far in inventory,

I have dagger, hook, bar, rope, and ax blade.     How is the little metal box opened?   What about the handle for the ax blade? When can the bedrooms be accessed?

Did you go up the stairs in Kinn's house? There is an item there that will help open the cabinet downstairs.

I've made the axe but cant find anything to sharpen it on. I tried the crystal statue but that didn't work  Can anyone help?

Did you check your inventory real well.. it scrolls up and down.     Also,  have you opened the cabinet in Kinn's house? You should be getting a iron bar and sharpening stone

I found the dagger and opened the cabinet and found metal bar and hook.I made the axe out of the wooden plank and rope. I now have a sturdy axe which needs sharpening.I can't find anything to sharpen it on and also can't open metal box. Ive checked inventory and only have dagger, hook and axe. Have I missed something vital or done something in the wrong order?

Search where the broken crystal is and you should find a key.............where did you find the plank?

Thanks for your help, it worked, I thought I'd searched there but obviously not well enough. I found the plank when I used the dagger on the cupboard.

i'm having trouble making my axe.  i used the dagger on the cabnet, but i can't find the plank, or the sharping stone

I saw no mention of a "plank".... but there is a wood object fairly close to the boat that makes a good handle.   The sharpening stone should appear in your inventory after opening the small metal box in Kinn's house.

I have rune of fire and water, a tear, hook with rope attached, axe, runes, stone,key and knife............have put crystal in boat but can't do anything else.  Have tried to untie boat but won't let me, and have tried all types of combination of items but no use?
