5 days a stranger problems

I made the detector and waved it over the bed.
It tells me to go to the kitchen and
then it says and I quote:
     "Either It's not working properly or its pointing straight downwards"
I've read the walkthroughs and they won't help.
Anyone know what's wrong?

I'd be a smart idea to search for an old topic about 5 Days a Stranger and look that kind of stuff up, instead of posting like this. I mean, the game was made four or three years ago, and I'm certain he covered this stuff back then when the game was new.

i got stuck at the part when he finds aj and get the teddy bear

Try looking in the library again. Where all the books are.

Either search the forums for the thread in Completed Games Announcements for the site name, or search for the old hints and tips thread, or go to the link provided in the new Trilby's Notes game and backtrack from there, or find the game listing in the main AGS site and visit the website form there.
