this may be a stupid question, but i have searched everywhere and dont seem to find "the oldman" who will give me the "dowsing stick"... He isn`t in the bar... :-\ do you have to do things in a certain order?
Have you gone beyond the bar? around the corner is an alley. There is an old guy there. Just keep going past the bar....

I think Rosie is referring to the an area where there is a cactus, a crate, and a boarded up mineshaft. I think it's just to the right of the house.
Well for me, the old man has always been in the bar at the beginning. Did you enter the house? Did you walk all the way to the right inside the bar?
If he was there, and he's not there now, then I reckon he's either in Starbucks or that area.
He isnt by the cactus... and he's never been in the bar...
