I've managed to reboot the computer and got some explosive/timed explosive. Tried to blew the red cargo and got blew up myself... What to do?

I simply just placed the timed bomb on the blast doors. If that doesn't work you probably missed some trigger. When you look or use the blast doors does it say something about that being the only way to get to the captain?

checked the pc and went to the basement of the ship, but nothing more (other than picking dynamite/assembling useless stuff). Did I missed a simple step? Bug?
I've replayed the game, a bug was keeping me from completing the game. Shame, since I quite liking it.
There seems to be no way to save your game. Is there?
just hit F5 to save and F8, I think, to load.

Whoops! You're right, my bad.
Reading about your problem tells me, that you seem to have the old version of the game, as the bugs in that game allowed you to have the items you say you have at the same time, which is supposed to be impossible.
The patched version is already released, so check the game's completion thread to get the latest version and try again!

In the corridors, you passed by three doors. (Chamber, C2 and C3) The one closes to the hypersleep-chamber is the one you need to enter.
I'm not sure what you mean.
All the doors you mentioned can't be opened, the only door that is open is where there's a bridge with an elevator in the middle that the player character doesn't want to use. The doors near the sleeping chamber are the blast door that doesn't open, the entertainment room on the east, and south goes to the aforementioned doors. So what do I do here? Where do I need to go and what do I need to do? ???

The room with a large biohazard sybol, a bridge and the elevator is where you are supposed to be goibg. The elevator is supposed to be available to you at this point and the character should have no problems in using it. I've never heard of this kind of problem before, as the radio messages in the engine room, with Ellie's scream in the radio, are supposed to allow you to use that elevator.

The explosives I found near the beggining of the game but Micheal tells me that I need to be clever about this; but I don't quite understand what he means. Can anyone help me on this?

I had a problem blasting away the doors. I built together the parts of the bomb, but didn't include the timer. After I did this, i got stuck. I couln't add the timer anymore and had to load a savegame.
It was Version 1.1.

To make the bomb you need the powercell, the timer and the explosives. Use them all three on each other and there should be a timebomb. Use that on the blastwall.

I've been to the computer console and I need to cut the power off to reset its need for a password. I've been to all the rooms (including engine rooms behind hatches). I have the explosives, patches and a power cell. What do I do now?

In the engine room go to the panel with buttons and read the memo with intructions next to it. When you’re half done and fed up with the manual, use the switches on the right. That will kill the power.

see the hole in the wall opposite the engine room when you entered the left hatch? You can find a key there.

"Find a key there...." ? Look at the captain. Search him. He has the key of his footlocker in his pocket. With that you can get the password to unlock the computer. It's in his diary in his footlocker.

removed the blast walls again and went downstairs there. Take the left hatch and walk until the end. From there you can go through the hole made by the 'dude'. You find Ellie and the captain dead. Use the captain. It's not a pixelhunt, just put the hand icon on his body. That should result in a key.
Look, I already said that I already did that several times even before you started replying on the matter. It doesn't give me the key.
Can you send me your savegame at that point?

I left the computer console to shut the power off, I went down the elevator in the next room first and investigated the explosion, now when I go back up the elevator some zombie thing kills me before I have chance to do anything.
