Title: jimmy the troublemaker

just started playing this good game and stuck, I have the toadstall, disks. noseglasses and shovel but cant do anything now, cant get past the guard and need help thank you

by finding buzz again, passing him on Walter's bar map, and hiding on the map with the thief house. You'll get the password ^^

[spoilers] I am stuck at the start of the game. I have escaped from prison, and found the password to the Thief Store out, but now I don't know what to do at all. Any suggestions?

Take the piece of tape on the mermaid poster in the house and use it on cassette. It's not the riff you have to record...it's something else... ;)

You don't actually have to get past the fairy.  You just need to get the fruit.  You can do that without stepping past the toadstools.

You should have picked up three items from Professor Brown's house.  If you haven't, you'll need those first.

The three items are a hollow stick (left side of screen, near the fireplace), the batteries (on the desk), and a portable vacuum (in the middle drawer on the desk).

The first step is to knock the fruit off the tree.

Use the hollow stick on the fruit.  (That is, on one of the fruit, near the center of the tree, which is its own hotspot... yeah, it's a little bit of a pixel hunt.)

Don't know if he always appears in the same place or whether there's some randomization involved, but when I played it I found him the second time

Yeah, that was the last one I got, too.  It actually turns out to be the simplest of the three items to get, but unfortunately it involves a pixel hunt, and picking up a very small object it's not obvious you should pick up.

Hints below; uncover one at a time until you're not stuck.

Look around carefully on the beach scene where the clam is.  There's something else you can pick up.

on several screens there is a hotspot "Ground", as advertised in one of the dialogues. You can dig there and you'll find something, useful or not. I can't remember on which screens.

have you finshed the game???? because i'm stuck i'm on the beach part done did everything in the world and can't get no where, i have the apple, pearl and other stuff been stuck for like a week ,can you please help me or anyone that know what i'm to do now, talked to everyone and still cant do anything

On the other hand, if he is already in his house, and still won't talk to you... well, then I don't know what to tell you, except that maybe a similar bug occurred, and you may want to try restoring the game to before you first talked to him anyway.  In the house, he should talk to you and tell you about his attempts to duplicate the magic paint.  If he's not talking to you about that... something's wrong.

Actually, now that you've reminded me of the bug, I think I'll post in the game's thread to mention it to the game's creator.

By "that's it" do you mean you're stuck again and want more hints, or just that that's as far as you've gotten so far?

If you don't want more hints, ignore this post, but just in case you do...

The first item you mentioned, a lot of characters talk about, so presumably you already know what it's for.

It allows you to enter the Forest of Perpetual Night (or whatever it's called; don't remember the exact name).  (At least, I assume that's what it does because that's what everyone says it does; to be honest, I've never tried entering the forest without it, so I'm not sure what difference it makes.)

The second item... well, frankly, this was one of the puzzles I thought was the most unfair; there really aren't any clues for it (or if there are, I missed them).  I did get it, but only by trying items at random, not because there was any particular reason to believe that this should be the right item for it.  There's one thing you should have encountered earlier that you know you do need an item for, but there's no clue as to which item you need, and no apparent reason why it should happen to be that one.  To be more specific...

You should have encountered someone who was willing to let you have something if you gave him something in return.

The first item you mentioned, a lot of characters talk about, so presumably you already know what it's for.

It allows you to enter the Forest of Perpetual Night (or whatever it's called; don't remember the exact name).  (At least, I assume that's what it does because that's what everyone says it does; to be honest, I've never tried entering the forest without it, so I'm not sure what difference it makes.)

The second item... well, frankly, this was one of the puzzles I thought was the most unfair; there really aren't any clues for it (or if there are, I missed them).  I did get it, but only by trying items at random, not because there was any particular reason to believe that this should be the right item for it.  There's one thing you should have encountered earlier that you know you do need an item for, but there's no clue as to which item you need, and no apparent reason why it should happen to be that one.  To be more specific...

Don't worry about things you haven't seen yet -- you'll get to them.  If you're at the stage in the game where you're carrying the gnome, you can't get to either of those other things yet.  You'll get to them later.  (Dr. Brown's house, in particular, you won't see till very near the end of the game.)

As to what to do next... well, something with the gnome, of course!

It does help a bit.  But I'm still a bit confused as to what my goals are other than to get the compass from the thieves store. Right now I have the shovel, toadstool, Larry 4 disks, knife, sharp bone, keyring, bucket with the paintbrush and the angry Gnome.

I've already followed Buzz to get into the store, escaped from the cave, talked to the gnome guard, talked to the drunk and that's it.

Actually, the first two goals are really the same, even though the dialogue makes them sound different -- when you find the grave, there's something there to make the witch feel better.  And as for the fisherman... yes, eventually you do have to give him something for a fish, and that's actually coming up pretty soon, but you don't have it yet.  (And honestly, there's no particular rhyme or reason to what you have to give him; it turns out to be a random item that there's no indication he should want until you try giving to him.  But, as I said, it's something you don't have yet anyway.)

But anyway, you say you're carrying the gnome?  Ah, then you've already done what I mentioned in the post I linked to above.  So then for the next step I think the hints in this post (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=41650.msg552802#msg552802) may help you.

If you don't have the toadstool, you can get it from one of the first rooms.  I don't remember exactly which room it was in (and don't feel like replaying the game right now to find out), but it was definitely on the left side of the bridge.  Pretty sure it was either the barn room, or the room just south of that, though it's possible it was one room farther.  Yes, it's a bit annoying because there are so many rocks and bushes and toadstools that you can't do anything with and it just happens there's this one toadstool you do need, but... well, I guess that's just the way it is.

I put in bucket: pearl + pipe. Then I went to the beach again to get the little flag out of the oyster and .. got another pearl. Then I put this second pearl in the bucket (insteat of the fruit) and this third ingreedient dit it!?!? The Prof. made the painting appear and I could go back!?

I have finally finished the game.

This blond haired Tom Green guitarguy in the cave was just for fun nothing else.


The reason why I was stuck was because the professor didn't walk into the house.  He was still in the jungle. No wonder I was always kicked out of the game when tried to shoot him with the seeds with hollow log. I had to restart the game to fix that problem.

The key in the nightstand doesn't go to the crypt.  It goes to her diary, found elsewhere in the same room.

The key to the crypt is hanging on a tree elsewhere in the forest, in the room with the guy by the campfire.  By now I've forgotten how to distract him so you can take the key, and unless someone really needs to know I don't feel like replaying that part of the game to remind myself, but I think there was a dialogue option that made him look away briefly.

There are a couple of bugs I've encountered:

1. After escaping the prison, you can cross the chasm without getting the board. I'm not sure how that happened, but it did occur to me on one gameplay (but not on another).

2. If you exit the Spencer tomb without getting the ring you can't get back in because Jimmy discarded the ring prior to entry. Either the door needs to remain unlocked or Jimmy shouldn't discard the key. My preference is to have Jimmy respect the dead and lock the door up behind him, but he is a troublemaker after all  ;D

I got past Bob and Bub, but for some reason my character can't move up north. In fact, just as I turn right on the path Jimmy gets "stuck". Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Also, there's a house in Medora village with a board blocking entry to a closet. Is that or anything else needed in that room? The first house is unfriendly...am I supposed to do anything to get in?

VERY VERY SORRY!!! It happened because someone reported that (s)he could walk right through the gates in the forest without opening it so i added in the code that if jimmy collides with the gate he stops...what happened was that after the gate is opened it blocks the walkable area a little which makes it impossible to walk through. It's fixed now and the new version will be available in a little while. I'll post in the completed games announcement. Damn...all those downloads...oh well. Again...very sorry for that. I never thought about testing it after adding the code. I know better now :D
