Since no one answered my post in the completed games forum, I'll post here.

Does anyone have any clue what to do in this game.  I've wandered around to all the different locations (I think I've seen all of them including the pitch-black alley) and talked to everyone I can numerous times...

But I have no clue what to next.  Any advice?

     I will share what I have done which is not much either.   I can go no further in this game, too.

Did you get the key from the receptionist desk and enter the adjacent room ?  Did you get the knife from the "drawer" in the room with the murder victim?

I think I can help you a little bit, I'm one step further.

In the black alley there is somewhere a little bit of light. (If you didn't notice, the ally is a scrolling room) Look at this light. It's alittle bit of pixel hunting.

Sinitrena and Ashen,    You are right..... these few posts make a walkthrough.

Thanks to everyone for their amazing hints.  I'm sure I'll have no problem completing the game now.

Seems that I wasn't patient/observant enough for some of the pixel-hunting involved.

UGH!  I hate pixel hunts.   Can anybody help me?  I just can't find anything in the alley.  I've searched and searched!

When you get into the alley, walk forward then about the middle of the screen you will see 2 lighter spots.  The rest is easy. :)

I also found it difficult to find the right spot to click.

I think those two light blue dots are supposed to represent the character's eyes reflecting in the dark.

I finally finished the game, though.
